What do you guys think is a fair asking price for one of those Harbor Freight "assemble it yourself" trailers? I have one that I'd like to sell, but I see a wide range of prices on CL. Mine is a 4x8 with 3/4" PT plywood decking and sides. I put on LED lights rather than the one that came with the kit. It's in great shape, just need something with higher weight limits. Would love to get $400 out of it. Any thoughts?

If the trailer you have is the folding 4x8 one like this that sells new for $380. (or less with coupon) I doubt you will get $400 for it by adding plywood and LED lights. Just my 2 cents. List it on CL. There's always someone selling CL stuff for more than retail there.

If it is similar to the one George referenced, $50 will make it go away. Or $400 if you like meeting new people for a few months.

Reminds me of my Dad. He never pays full price for anything and gets offended if they don't come down far enough to what he wants to pay, but when he is selling something, he always wants so much more then it's worth that it takes months and sometimes years for him to sell it. He meats a lot of new people, and eventually lowers his price to where it should have been in the first place, or even lower then what he could have gotten for it because all of the original people who where interested have moved on and he is more limited it those looking.

I would rather sell a little cheap to get rid of something then to hold out for a price that isn't realistic.

I sold a 4 x 8 flat bed tilting type 1700 lb capacity HF trailer a few months ago for $325. Listed on CL, took about three days to sell. Had expanded metal bed with 5/8 ply on top and some eye bolt tie down points. I think it was about a 2012 model.

I just bought a used 1195 GVWR HF folding trailer w/o bed, slightly rusty for $100, but had been upgraded to LED lights and had good tires.

The same day (Fathers day) I scored a barely used Stihl BR550 for $160. :)

Thanks fellas. Doesn't look to promising for a $400 return. Darn, had my eye on another one with greater load capacity for same price.
