Bent my box blade mount, shorter top link?

Body shop with frame rack and torch could probably fix it but at what cost? I would think you could heat and bend back into shape, but it will take some doing. Bending or replacing a piece of strap steel is not hard. Those side supports are a different animal.

I contact them and see if any chance those pieces could be bought. Bought it last fall.

I forgot to take chain off. And bent the it worse and new top link when raising. I think may have worked.

Hooked to tree took a bit, bent it back. Enough where I can probably fix hole in yard.

Problem bring it somewhere, is unloading. Will have to take to town.

Maybe good excuse to buy welder.

Most places that do much welding have a forklift for loading and unloading things. Alternatively, if you have a small trailer it fits on, just leave the trailer and all for them .

I would use bucket to load in truck.

Where was the chain?

Pictures?

You might be able to straighten enough with a bottle jack.

I straightened on a tree, jerking.

Chain is in the pics of damage. It was wrapped around it it, to get out of woods.

You might want to try shorter top link. Between that and custom bend, seems I can raise it higher. Which is nice in woods

I realize not fixed, but was able to smooth out the mess I made in the sand. Not sure I would use the rippers. But pulling puts most of the force on arm, I would think.

Was working great. Then I went back out in woods, and bent it again. Not able to pull back off tree. Maybe with more effort. It was bent nice enough off first time pulling off tree, I could have maybe learned to weld and fixed. Now needs new steel.

Not everyone has a weld shop in back pocket. I found one about 35-40 miles away. He said $50 a hour plus material. You debate on $600 part. Though new one will be just as weak. Had in truck, was goign to see what he said. Closed at 4, which makes it tough with work too, but they open at 6.

Neighbor comes by and says he knows a guy, so I brought it there. Guy had 1/2 steel plate, laying in his front yard. Dropped it off.

I miss it for making trails. I think it may be better than brush hog. rips out saplings and leaves the ground bare, so can see the trail. Plus I suspect if I had a brush hog, it would go worse than this did.

I have not read all of the previous posts. But the metal seems thin and I agree with various methods of bending the mount as close to original as possible and fab up some supports. Or to cut it off (with a plasma, preferably) and fab up something new. But, strengthening one part of something may just transfer stresses elsewhere and cause more problems.

I have backed my ROBB into tree stumps a few times in my densely wooded area with no damage to anything. If it were mine and if I could not easily fix it at home (yes I have a MIG and plasma cutter), I would go shopping for a heavier piece of equipment instead of spending good money and time on something I would most likely damage again. Just food for thought.
