Mahindra mPower85P HSU noise

I have a 2015 Mahindra mPower 85p and the HSU (orbital motor steering unit) is making a loud noise while turning the steering wheel (not at the end of the steering turn, but all the while turning the steering wheel, but it sounds just like the noise made when the wheel is at the end). It steers fine but the noise is very annoying and drives me crazy (a very short trip for me) when making a lot of short steering adjustments (like backing a tree shear up to a tree). The dealer replaced the HSU once but it is still making the noise. I contacted corporate and they sent a service rep who said that is the way they are--the units are noisy. I have had 2 Fords, 2 Massey Fergusons, and 2 Kubota's and have never had any noise from the power steering orbital motors. Two questions:

1. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem with their Mahindra?
2. Did you get it fixed and if so, how?

I am a new member so I hope this makes sense.

I just crossed referenced the part numbers, and the steering box is the same on your tractor and my 7520. Mine makes no noise.

Any chance that your dealer has a similar model on the lot? Go check one out and see if it makes the noise.

Again, mine makes no noise.

I test drove 2 new 75p's and a new 85 and they all made the same noise. I think Mahindra got a bad batch of HSU's and they don't want to replace them.

I have an 85 (no cab, open station) that I purchased 3 years ago - no such noise on my machine - ever.

That said, I can appreciate how something like that can send you into orbit.

My 7520 is a 2005 model built in 2004. One of the very first (160th unit built) of this style of tractor for Mahindra. It has been a great machine for me. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks for the information. Mine is a 2015 model.

I like just about everything on the tractor except for the noisy HSU.

Just got the tractor back from the dealer after the factory rep said there is nothing Mahindra can do about the HSU. I was also having problems with the check engine light coming on and the engine idling down to 750 RPM. Dealer/rep did a software update since no codes were set by the computer. Hope the update fixes that problem.

Not very happy with Mahindra right now.

Why? is the hsu not working right or you just don't like the noise

The HSU works fine, it is very noisy when in the cab for long periods of time and doing a lot of steering.

So much for the dealer/rep fixing my check engine problem. Mowing hay yesterday and light came on 4 times and engine idled down to 750 RPM. Really hard to cut hay at that RPM. Tractor wouldn't even pull itself back to the house. Going to call dealer today and see what they say.
