Turf tires don't work. Need a more aggressive set of rears for a JD 145

Go with the number 3 type in the photo in post #4. Better traction but ride should still be good. IF the added traction destroys your transmission, then you can go buy a mower that will be well suited for your conditions. In the meantime, you can work that hill as needed.

Ditto ... those work well for me. I have JD X500 and 3 acre hilly lawn. In 5 years the HDAP tires haven't slipped even once.

Please tell me what "HDAP" stands for.
As far as "hilly" rear tires go, so far I have only found two Carlisle models that make claim to my 22x9.50-12 JD rims-"TURF MASTER" and "TURF SMART".
The objective point is the above listed tire size.
Other brands/treads????

I tried the turfmaster II on the right in this photo - didn't see much difference. Added beet juice - didn't see much difference. Then I went to the AT 101s without that dang messy beet juice - what a difference but they still will slip a little which may help your tranny. I do not know your tractor that well but I love the AT 101s. They have bites and will climb but allow you to maneuver without tearing up the grass. I am thinking about a tire like that on my 70 hp Versatile - high flotation yet still have traction.

If you don't mind ripping up your grass a little I would go with 22x10-12 ATV tires.

The Carlisle Field Trax are what I have on my x749 26 12 12 and these work great for my uses. Good traction in snow and on steep hills without fluid or weights. These are HDAP tires.

Your 145 may not have a size available though. Just as well the transmission isn't designed for steep hill side work.
You can ignore the warnings of others about your transmission if you want, put some aggressive tires on and wipe the tranny out. Learn a lesson then go buy an x500 mower and up. If you do not have enough traction to climb the hill under dry conditions you are overworking the mower and the transmission will fail in short order.

Some of the members have praised the Husquvarna (spelling?) mowers with the better transmissions and that may be a less costly solution, about $3,000.

I have a Husky 322T Ride mower. It is an articulated AWD mower with, in my deck choice, a mulching deck, ( Combi 103, 46"). It goes up or down hills like a billy goat, and NEVER slips. I replaced my Scag Wildcat 61" deck ZT mower because I was sliding into ditches, over banks and into trees completely out of control whenever the sun would shine or the wind would blow.
The guys are right, you increase traction beyond the transmission's capability and it will melt down. You will have wasted $ on tires that will render your tractor useless, and then you'll have to buy another tractor to get the job done. Not the most economical approach.

Husqvarna Riders R 322T AWD

"Heavy Duty All Purpose". That's Deere's terminology. Carlisle (the company that makes them) calls them "All-Trax" or "All-Trail".

For damp grass on hills chains will provide the best grip.
