Where can I order these. I'm new to tractors and not really sure what to search for exactly. I try but can't find any that seem to be the right size. 12.4/11-28 only seems to bring up ag tires.

Also I'd like to put some fatter front tires to reduce sinking. What would be the widest size I could fit. Or is there a better option.

It's only used with a brush cutter but need something that would float a little better over softer terrain. And leave less tire tracks. Thanks

You might need to change rim sizes as many turf tires are wider than their R1 & R4 counterparts. Nokian tires are bad to the bone...saw some roadside mowing crews running them this year.

It's hard to find turfs in that size. Look for diamond tread tires.

Also that's a fairly narrow tire. I money isn't an object then consider going to a wider tire.

Change your numbering system:

On my Branson 2400, OEM R4 industrial rears are 12x16.5. I wanted turfs (which I got from from Titan Tire) and the matching size is 33x12.5x16.5; 33 the OD of the tire, 12.5 the width Titan carries for that range of other parameters and 16.5 the ID of the tire aka the rim (seating area) diameter. Sometimes Tractor Data.com, under tires (expanded) will show you the available options for tires for a given machine in turfs, ind., and ag.

In some cases you have to go to a different wheel to get a fit on turfs since they are usually much wider than row crop R1s. My wheels were 9" wide and the tire differences were half an inch, since ind. tend to be wide for the ID-OD ratio, so it wasn't a problem. Tire width is measured at the widest point with rated air pressure. This can be a variable number based on wheel width so don't pay it all that much attention. Fitting the rim diameter and matching ODs in 4wd applications matter more.....course you can't be so wide as to not fit in under the fender....but you can put spacers on the wheels which I just happen to have done beforehand on the 2400 to getter better hill stability.

As others have mentioned, floatation type tires or turfs almost always use a much smaller rim diameter. Like 16 inch, 16.1 inch or 20 inch. That gives you a lot more sidewall and allows a much softer foot print. Check around with different dealers in your area for a set of used turfs on rims. Tractors get traded in with turfs, and Murphy's Law like it is, the next customer will want ags. We almost always have a set or two of used turfs in our yard.

That's exactly what I found, too. Turfs and Ags require a different wheel, and people tend to trade ag for turfs and vice versa about equally. Used sets of either are out there, and usually as a pre-assembled wheel plus tire combo that will save you money.

Now having said that, I also recall that a few decades ago you could buy a diamond tread tire to fit the Ag rim on your universal type Ag tractor. The diamond pattern wasn't made in many sizes. It tended to be about the same width as the Ag tire it replaced, but with a flatter and much less aggressive tread. Maybe some of those are still made. A decent compromise for tire footprint, but diamonds miss one of the big advantages of the true turf tire/turf wheel combo which is that the wider lower stance gives you more stability.
