Replacement batteries for a Prius were selling for $900 installed at independent shops in the Boston area last year. The $5000 figure is a) a myth and b) ten or fifteen years out of date.

$300 is obviously a projection but at the rate battery capacity is increasing will be true in a year or two. We're talking hybrid battery, not EV. Maybe something in the range of 1amp/hr capacity. Enough to recycle the energy from braking or coasting down a hill.

The goal is about 100 usd/kwh. Such battery would make electric car cheaper than ICE or distributed power grid closer.

Sounds about right. I wrote amp/hr but kWh is probably what I was thinking.

Compressibility to generate heat is a well known fact. But what confuses me is does this compressibility require reoccurrence for continuous heat generation or does it happen with just one compression.
Concepts here could lead to piesiometric materials and thier use.
