Replacement batteries for a Prius were selling for $900 installed at independent shops in the Boston area last year. The $5000 figure is a) a myth and b) ten or fifteen years out of date.

$300 is obviously a projection but at the rate battery capacity is increasing will be true in a year or two. We're talking hybrid battery, not EV. Maybe something in the range of 1amp/hr capacity. Enough to recycle the energy from braking or coasting down a hill.

The Prius battery is small and the quoted price is after the core charge payment of the old battery. Not to mention the company subsidizing the "new" battery cost for public relations reasons.

Houston and Redneck should be complimented and thanked for their tireless efforts to keep the greenies honest by proving the greenie theories sound wonderful but however the greenies are impractical or impossible.

Maybe explain the wording.

Let me spell it out for ya, CO2 has nothing to do with the heating or cooling of earth as it relates to long term climate changes, and the attempt to prove it, has actually disproved the theory. Sun energy output and orbital geometry are where the answers are, not atmospheric studies.

So NASA has no clue what they're talking about then? You know they're just a small agency who hasn't done anything of note.

Hardly, they have no first hand experience with EVs. They come in, dump on the thread and leave. In general their presence isn't welcome or warranted

You won't see us trashing JD across the board or posting in every Kubota thread that Kioti is better. There's nothing constructive in that but it's exactly what they're doing here.

I wouldn't lump Houston and Redneck together. Redneck has made a number of useful posts. Houston just keeps posting alternative facts and alt right BS. Houston is fun to follow for laughs but very hard to take seriously. He is consistent though. Gotta give him that.

... production moved from the west to China
Oh come on. Do a little research before making an outdated and just plain misleading claim. WTH is your agenda?

This article describes new battery plants underway in a half dozen -or more - western nations.

China???

Yeah you're right, sorry Redneck didn't mean to lump you in with hs.

And you state this because you have critically reviewed the data and discussed this with some of the vast majority of climatologists, geophysicists and astrophysicists who believe CO2 is important? Or did you just regurgitate another line of political bs from some two bit political activist writing crap to energize the Breitbart faithful???

You know they are not a weather or climate agency.
