John Deere 990
Hey there guys, new to this site and first post. I have a John Deere 990 I need to add rear hydraulics to because of an implement we just purchased. Everywhere I've called doesn't sell a kit anymore for the 990. Said they've been discontinued awhile now. Im not sure where to even start for piecing parts together to do this. Any insite? Suggestions? Instructions or spot to get kit? Thanks in advance!
Chad

Do a Google search for Parting Out John Deere 990. I did and there were some hits. Some are fire damaged and the parts you want may not be salvageable, but it's worth a try.

Hey Chadgeorgell

I'm looking to add rear hydraulics to my JD 990 as well. They did have a kit that basically ran extension lines from the front end loader valve outlets to the rear. I don't like this setup. The best I can come up with is using the power beyond kit to feed an open center spool valve then run your outlets from there. However, I am looking to skip the power beyond kit and just have some custom hoses made. My problem now is making sure I tap into the correct ports and figuring out the correct fitting sizes. I have been looking for an installation manual for the power beyond kit but with no luck.

The drawing from JDParts: Unsigned Landing Page may help. I happen to have it save as a pdf but you can register and see it for yourself too.

IIRC a -08 ORB fitting will directly replace the banjo bolts.

Thanks, but that's not much help to know where the lines attach to the case.

I have found with my research that the return side of the PB can go to the case or the loader SCV. What I'm looking for is for someone to point out positively where these are, along with the supply side.

How about the SCV? Does anyone know much about it? (SCV part number LVA802784 or LVA803422) There is one part labeled as a plug (key number 16)... is this maybe a "pass through" port? LVA802784.gif

I run my JD 1070 implements with extensions off the loader outlets just fine. Front snow plow left/right & up/down, hay mower tongue swing + header lift and stack wagon chute up/down. Both 2-way and 1 way operations. Even a rear cement mixer dump cylinder. Easier for me to still use the same joystick. All I do is add extension to the implement hoses. All parts from TSC or Rural King. If you only need control of 1 cylinder, you can leave the loader on. There is even a mechanical lockout to allow control to the curl circuit only. Done and off to the races.
