MUSA answer to question about synthetic oil.

I asked about using a synthetic oil such as Rotella 5W40 and this was the response I got. Which I thought was very interesting, and I am sure just the standard form answer sent to anyone that asks. Thought I would share.

No, synthetic oil is not recommended for our tractors. Mahindra only recommends Mahindra branded oil and filters to keep your tractor running smoothly for many years to come. There are no other brands that have been tested in our tractors. I do not know what the specs are because we only recommend the Mahindra brands. Please contact one of our certified Mahindra dealers to purchase your fluids and filters. If I can be of further assistance to you please feel free to contact me at any time. I also asked about the fluid for the front axle and this is the reply.

The UTF can be used in the front axle transmission and hydraulics. This is what Mahindra USA recommends

That's funny because in the manual that came with my 1526 it lists 4 or 5 specific oils acceptable for use in the motor...one is Shell Rotella 5W40. When I get home tonight I can get you the exact info on it if you'd like.

Why would they say anything else??

The book for my 2538 does not specify any specific oils just a API CJ-4 spec a temp chart which basically says 10w30 and then says or Mahindra 15w40.

If they 'made' a synthetic oil with their name on it, then they'd recommend that but no others. T6 is one of the best oils out there and I run it in everything, including gas engines.
