Mowing Mahindra 4110 - 5' or 6' Rotary Cutter?

I agree with LD1, he explains it well. A 6 ft cutter medium or heavy duty would be a good fit my opinion. When I bought my 6 ft cutter it was for a 3616 Mahindra and it worked fine on it.

Well, 10 months later and you folks who said to go with a 6-footer were right. :) I can't even imagine bush-hogging my 6 acres with a 5-footer. :confused2:

We ended up deciding that a 6-foot standard-duty Mahindra bush-hog w/slip clutch was the best way to go. Unfortunately, neither of our preferred Mahindra dealers had any in stock. Sadly, the only Mahindra dealer near us who did have one in stock tried to zing us on price (raising it rather significantly after his initial competitive quote) and that left a very bad taste in our mouths.

One day later, I received a 10% off coupon in the mail from TSC which we were able to use on a 6-foot TSC bush-hog which was already on sale. It was meant to be. I ended up ordering a separate slip clutch as the TSC drive had only shear pin protection. It all went together quite well.

So far, so good. I do understand the potential pitfalls and limitations of the TSC unit. We did not go into this blindly. But so far we are pleased and I haven't managed to damage it yet. Even if it doesn't last us as long as the Mahindra bush-hog might have, at this point the savings appear to have been worth it. :)

it will handle either fine

I have my 4110 widened out as wide as it will go. Wider is better on these Eastern Kentucky hills. The 4110 will easily handle the 6 foot cutter, 5 foot doesn't cover the tracks.

Dougster, welcome back to TBN, and congratulations on your new mower.
As I started reading this post, I thought I would suggest you go borrow a six footer from a neighbor and give it a try. If they don't want to loan one to you for a single cut, come get mine, I have replaced it with an 8 and a 15, so it won't get much use in the future.

Thank you. :) There were no 6-footers to borrow in my area and only 5-footers available to rent. I knew the 5-footers would work because I had rented them a couple times in the past... but I am so glad that we bought a 6-footer... and, in fact, a fairly lightweight 6-footer. It's no problem at all for my tractor.

The 4110 would probably handle a 7 foot cutter. I've cut some awfully big stuff with my 4110.

Wouldn't doubt it.. I got a 1540MF Iseki that I ran a 7ft mohak on for a good while... pto turned it well but weight was just to much on the back bouncing around so I went down to a 6MHD Mahindra RB

The 1540 I tried ou before getting my 4110 felt a lot lighter to me, the extra weight is one reason I went with the 4110.
