Haven't noticed the wasps being particularly bad this year and thankfully haven't been stung (knock on wood)

Interestingly, the carpenter bees - which there had been a snotload of earlier this year - seemed to have mostly disappeared. Not sure what's up with that.

Lots of japanese beetles though ... and they are chewing on the oaks ...

71F headed to 90s today. Wife helped take mower off and put sprayer on, sprayed half tank last night, will spray more over next few days and then be done for awhile.

I'm seeing the same with the carpenter bees, almost gone. Also the black birds are flocking like its late August, very strange.

I do have replacement cost insurance, but a lot of my stuff is out of production and similar replacements are actually cheaper, but not as well made.

Ditto on the carpenter bees. Recall my earlier antics this year with the tennis racket.

Increase in wasps, Japanese beetles and ants. Or so it seems.

Bag worms on my cedars. That's new and odd. Last time I picked a bunch of bag worms was 20 years ago on blue spruces.

Huge spike in Barn Swallows. I'd like to think, 6 pair (12) showed up. Last count on the round pen and it was over 40. Two nests of three hatch-lings still awaiting flying orders. This may be the broods last year in the barn. New windows are desired if the money floats just right. I need 22 of them on the barn. Gag...

Those of you that like music from the rock group Yes may also like the album covers painted by Roger Dean. I've long looked for examples of his art online, and at last found a good collection of his work here. It's well organized, and each painting is presented with a bit of background information. Clicking on the painting itself displays a larger version, some of which will fill the screen. It's also interesting to see that some of the original paintings are offered for sale as well.

I have been a huge Yes fan for longer than I care to remember. I was three when their first album came out in '69. Yes and Rush are undoubtedly the two biggest reasons I became a rock musician. Love Roger Dean's work, and have been "friends" with him on Facebook for several years. He's still very active in the art world. Don't know him personally, but from a few chats he seems like a reasonably nice guy. Quite humble about the worldwide love of his work.

I saw Yes, Tower of Power and Wild Turkey at UOP in Stockton in 1971-72, just back from my tour.

When a friend of mine and I enjoyed the big moment last Fall of firing up my 1968 Cub Cadet 125 which I had restored, it burbed and caught and died.
Burped, backfired, and the entire outside of the carb was on fire. Whoa baby, that was a first. I smothered the flame and put the air cleaner back on.
Now I really know why boats for many years had required spark arrestors inside the air cleaners of gasoline motors.

got all my errands run, tri rib tire to repair shop for new tube, and now out to get some work done.

70°F and .14 inches rain.
Slow and gentle rain, just enough to keep grass wet and foil my mowing, maybe today.

Took advantage and planned out a mod for my two guest suites and got the stuff ordered.

During one of the sunny spells got Kekoa in the pool for a swim. He does well given his low body fat, but still no attempt to get in on his own. The water was very comfortable.

Be safe
Have a great day.

Heavy rain for last 2 hrs. Lots of flash flooding. I left work early, stopped for lunch on way home, waiting on rain to let up. I used to live 2 miles from here, 20 yrs ago none of these shops and restaurants were here. One of the reasons I moved was because they were starting to build.

Toppop, glad it didnt spread to the house. Had a neighbor yrs ago, lost his shed to a fire. Course his son had something to do with it starting.

Roundabout from Yes is one of my favorites.

Rain is slowing down, time to hit the road. Waitresss at the sub shop has been real good.

Ran that 12 gallons of old congealed Roundup through an old t-shirt as a sieve and then sprayed it to touch up various places and get rid of it. Have more spraying to do but will hold off until there's less chance of rain (mebbe tomorrow)

Tore up (literally) the tractor-side SSQA awhile back, and it's been getting worse any time I put the bucket down and try to back drag ... so repairing that is on the short list. I'm going to go with some heavier square tube as the timing bar and see if that makes it a little more durable, also reinforce the plates.

Will stick a 2" hitch receiver on the timing bar and build a bracket that will fit into it that will allow me scoop up the garbage cans to tote them up to the road which is currently a PITA.
