Bud's gun shop experience

I bought a Mosin Nagant 91/30 Rifle from Buds a few year ago. They just threw it in a box with no packing and shipped it. When I picked it up at the FFL it looked like muzzle was sticking out of the box. No damage to the rifle that I could see. They could at least rap it in bubble pack.

Although I agree that it should have been packaged better, the way it shoots and the small amount of wear on bolt knob is not a deal killer.
If it had arrived that way and could shoot around corners besides, then I'd complain. Otherwise live & learn and don't buy from them again.

I'll hold my ground. I like my piece of the Adirondacks. I just wish the majority of the voting population would get their head out of their exhaust chute...

I left about 15 years ago. IMO Albany runs the entire state "into the ground" because New York City controls Albany. I believe the majority of the population of New York City believes "upstate New York" is the Catskills. Has much changed since then or do you disagree with my assessment?

That said, I loved Keene and Old Forge area. Lots are of areas of Northwestern NC remind me of those areas.

I think you pretty much hit the nail right on the head. If anything has changed, it has just gotten worse. Keene/St. Huberts is my favorite stretch of the Adirondacks by far.

Your assessment still rings true. Most people don't understand the tax burden either. I like the land, but it's unlikely I'll stay in retirement. One coworker just retired and moved to another state. I calculated that he would need to have saved another $200,000 to have retired in NY just because of the taxes compared to where he is now.

I bought a used Bersa .45 from Bud's a few years ago. Only problem I had was that I later discovered the recoil springs were pretty much worn out and had to be replaced. It sometimes did not have the strength to push a new round out of the magazine into the chamber. I replaced those weak springs and it has been a dream to shoot ever since. I probably should have complained, but springs were cheap and I figure buying anything used can be a crap shoot. On the positive side, even with the cost of the springs added, it was still a good deal and I still have the gun, but I have never bought anything else from Bud's. The prices temp me sometimes though.

Talk to Doug at Atlas firearms. The opened up a store in Greensboro. Guys will treat you right. Just remember, even if you buy at Bud's, you need to add shipping and then a FFL transfer. Or heck, just cruise the Carolina gun forum. Always a good deal going on there for a FTF transaction.

No shipping charges at Bud's. They're usually pretty competitive even with a 25 dollar transfer fee. Of course, if that comes with a caveat of unsafe travels for the firearm, it takes away the appeal.

Didn't realize that. Perhaps I didn't look close enough at their website, but I do know when I called to asked questions, I hung up more than a couple of times because of the wait when I called Buds. They sling guns out the door left and right and they apparently are so busy, they couldn't answer my phone call the couple of times I called them.

After reading your comment about how they altared your own review, I'd have more of a problem with that than the way they shipped the gun.

AND after reading how they shipped a loaded gun...

Live and learn. Same thing with dealing with PSA. They have great pricing, but you can expect to order and wait....wait.... and wait sometimes LOL
