Notice anything missing from this local newspaper grocery add? You know you are really rural when no prices are necessary because you have no competitors within 20 miles. IMG_0823.JPG

back from doctors, all seems to be well, thought about going back outside, thermometer says 106 heat index.
Perhaps not...

I've been mowing grass for 56 years, this is my first time mowing a rice patty! Water 1-3" deep in about a half acre on one side, grass 8" tall in 7 days. The Kubota mowed it but it looked like I'd been muddling! Slowed down and hit the hydro deck lift with my foot when it got too deep. I hope o don't need to do that again!

Good evening all. 73F, thunder fading, overcast light wind, 2.1 inch rain in gauge. Also power was out till 7:40 this morning. High temp was 90F, clouds backed off to partly cloudy, moderate wind. Finished all the weed eating, found out the spool is almost empty so need to get the spare wound. Also started to weed the front planting area, it is about half done. Got a call from client, was able to get them happy over the phone, but still have more to do, including submit the billing that is done :).

Ron, also lube chain and the derailleurs. If chain or derailleur not moving freely, shifting is degraded.

Eric cool shotguns, the engraving looked outstanding.

Glad to hear about you clean bill of health, wife went into lab for blood draw, figured if she couldn't have her coffee (must have cream and sugar), might as well get the lab out of the way.

DVID NICE CATCH ON THE SHELVES! Icing on the cake, you said it will all be hidden :drink:

When I used to carry my mountain bike on the rear rack, I had a piece of 1" pipe insulation (the gray stuff) that I put on upper rail to protect cables. EZPZ.

Eric - never tried reloading press but I do have a 20 ton press, kinda slow compared to the hand cracker.
Interesting zucchini, nice looking shotgun.

Ron -I suspect the cracker would work on any nut that would fit in the jaws.

Wngsprd - I surely do think of them as a treat, they are too soon gone. I'll crack 3 or 4 at a time, share with my wife.
Was musing with the wife last night that I ought to ask our Cottage tenant if they like macnuts when they get back and if so get him entry to my friend's place. Wife pointed out that John didn't have any 5 gal buckets. Thinking about 3 seconds, I replied I could lend him two and return a full one to me as the bucket rental. Seems fair to me :)

Wonder how I do multiple quotes in the iPad app?

Interesting day.

Got the shelves mounted, pretty much as expected. Wife couldn't tell which one was my problem child. Barely got started on my Ohia trim when sears finally showed up.
Culprit seems to be water in the gas. Bet there was at least half a cup in what we drained off. Got it running, but rough. Tech wants to replace the carb so will return in a couple of weeks.
My Blitz gas containers are getting old. Already took 2 out of service as they started leaking last refills. Now I wonder if they are allowing water to get in as well? Any suggestions as to replacements? Believe Blitz went bankrupt a few years ago due to idiots pouring gas on fires and blaming the container company. Not a fare of the newer, hard to use spouts.

After Sears left, I mowed about an hour around the banana trees. I know, not really trees, but I still call them trees. :)

79 outside this AM. Humid too. Not much going on. Got all the grass cut yesterday <-(A few hours ago, LOL). Today, a little more on the weed whacker. Should be a sweat fest when the sun comes up. Happy Friday.

All have a great weekend, be safe!

even warmer here, already 76 out, going to 91, heat advisory just posted
Am firing up the chipper at 7am and try to get that done in a few hours.
Might not endear me to the neighbors but I'm pretty far away.
Then I might do some welding inside the barn. At least it's in the shade and I have a fan.
By noon it will be time to come in.

so far drinking a diet sports drink daily and eating mustard fairly frequently has kept the cramps away.

74 and 100% humidity, going to 92...I guess calling it a sweat "fest" will at least make it seem like fun. Hoping it will rain this PM.

Son and friend came over yesterday to cut some 8 foot tall grass stalks to camo a goose/duck blind. I'm not sure what kind of grass it is, but we have only a small patch that grows up in the hedge row where we throw weeds we pull from the garden and flower beds...looks like wild rice or some other marsh grass.

After helping them and watering the garden, roasted coffee until lunch time.

Then the grass had dried enough to get most of it mowed.

Buppies, I heard a guy on the call in radio show yesterday who said he worked paving asphalt, and when it got as hot as it was yesterday, they wear jackets to stay cool.

The asphalt yesterday was 350 degrees a little on the warm side plus with heat and humidity almost unbearable. Ten bottles of water still not enough. Never seen anyone around here wear a jacket for sure none on my crew.

Interesting. I have two patches in my field like that. Took a nice picture last year me beside one patch. Over 10 foot tall I would say. Nice grass for a buffer.

Stay hydrated, my friends.

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 67° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 76° with mostly cloudy skies. Rained a good part of yesterday. Good soaker rain. But only .3". Got all the shop lights up in pole barn and wired. Sure is bright in there now. Grand kids are coming today. Should finish cleanup of fence line and replace last 2 bottom boards on pole barn.
Neighbor called. He is ready to come over and help with animal barn roof. Need a sunny day and nothing else to do. Hope next week.
Never got to the bike. Thanks for all the repair idea's.
Good Morning All.

Good morning all. 71 this morning, going to 89 with a 60% chance of T storms. Seems like a good day to "lay low and watch from behind a stump". Don't know about the stump but I plan to law low.

You all be careful today and have a great day. Ed
