Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 8:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High 94F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
A relatively cool 94F for a high today, but tomorrow it'll bounce over a hundred again and stay that way for the rest of the week. Ugh.
Not lookin' good for the Fish Fry, Don. Hope springs eternal though, but I hope you have as good a turn out for the tear down.

And I hope you get your supplies laid in because from the looks of things Harvey's gonna stick around a while and dump a lot of rain. Good luck to all the Gulf Coasters out there!
Don't feel bad about your welding, Drew. If the garage door hadn't been shut, I would have thought a bird had come in and crapped all over these valve covers.:laughing: Made good progress welding and then grinding back all the flat spots and gouges, and even got the ribs built up OK. Except when I did a double take on that one and found it flopped over to the side. No problem, I though, nothing a few well placed hammer blows wouldn't straighten out. Except the weld rod turned out to be stronger than the casting, and now I've got some cracks in the valve cover to weld up after I grind off all the crooked weld. The moral of the story is lift up the bucket and look at what you're doing more often.:ashamed:
Finally got enough info to finish off the center stand tang, so I'll see if I can't do that today as well.
As expected, not one iota of progress on the van last week. Not even the final tidy up of the wiring under the dash that was promised. But as soon as I walked in the door, the mechanic comes over with the piece of hose we've been waiting for on the fuel tank install, and put one of the helpers on it. I widened the cutout under the dash for the switch pot, slipped it into place, then found I'd left the strap that holds it on back home. Nothing else I could do, so I left. Missed a phone call from the mechanic last night, so it will be interesting to see what he has to say for himself today...:confused2: We're now seven weeks past delivery of the demand letter, which gave him a month. Once more he promised to work on the engine over the weekend, and if he doesn't this time, I think it's time for the trailer.
TGIF!:drink::thumbsup:
