Trailer tire tread decided to unzip on me

Those look like Mission tires. I had 4 Mission tires fail on me. I now have the new Carlisle Radial Trail HD's and will be heading out loaded up on Saturday. We'll see how these hold up.

We had nothing but troubles with Carlisle Tires. Probably been through 5 sets myself and we'll over 25 sets at my marina. They were pure junk as were the Marathon Tires by Goodyear.

I have had multiple blowouts on my dump trailer. The Carlisle tires were terrible. Tow Master a little better. I had another blowout last week. I detected a vibration that I could not identify no matter how hard I looked. Now I realize it was tread separation. At 65mph BOOM and the trailer was all over the place. Fortunately it was empty.

I just replaced both sides with Goodyear ST tires-- load range E-- supposedly top of the line. I don't think Goodyear was in this market last time I needed tires? I hope these last longer ...

Goodyear has been in the trailer tire business for the 20 plus years i have been in the game.

We never had any luck with them!

Regarding: "Goodyear has been in the trailer tire business for the 20 plus years i have been in the game. "

Well ... isn't that interesting? I've shopped two well regarded tire shops in two different cities over a number of years and until recently nobody mentioned or recommended Goodyear. Maybe because they suck? Or the dealers know what not to sell? Aaagghhh. Gee I hope not .....

It just amazes me that so many are resistant to LT tires. Why risk your safety and take a chance of damaging your trailer with inferior tires? All the old myths about St tires having stiffer sidewalls, they must be better because trailers come with them, engineers who designed them know more than the public, etc., just don't hold up.

Then look at all the blowout stories and compare them to the record of truck tires. Many STs are junk. But, of course there are some very good ones too, like Greenball. But if you have to special order them, maybe consider a tire that is readily available anywhere.

That would put you in a Goodyear wrangler lt tire. No matter where you break down they can be found. Walmarts are on every corner around here. Put your spare in regular rotation and you know it will run when needed. Best blow out was the outer casing came off but the rear of the truck never dropped. Drove 15 miles on the steel cords with the tire still holding air.

Goodyear has come out with a replacement to the marathon trailer tire Goodyear Endurance in a 14 in its rated as a D tire now vs the old marathon C

Supposed to be made in the usa I just put a set on my 26 ft Sea Ray boat trailer replacing the original 2006 marathons which separated this yr

These were "Triangle" brand tires. Came on the gooseneck when it was new.

LT tires in a 235/80R16 just don't have the load rating needed for a 7K lb axle. Ended up buying Sailun G rated 14 ply all steel tires.
