Have a Forf 800. Never have used the aux hydraulics, ie, the couplers. Hooked up a single acting cylinder, one line, and i cant get it to move. I should be able to use a single acting cylinder, shouldn't I? How can I check this out?

Note that for a single acting cylinder, the valve must deliver pressurized oil when activated, then "dump to tank" when in the neutral position, and something (a spring or weight of the implement) should help return the piston of the SA cylinder to the "rest" position. Time to check for flow (you can take the fitting off of the cylinder and put it in a bucket) and then work from there.

Did you switch to the aux hydraulics? Normally they're disabled via a valve of some sort so you don't accidentally hit a lever and dead head the pump.

On some of the older ones like that, you had to move the lever by the three point hitch controls to "constant pumping" or you did not have aux hydraulics. Not sure if that is the case with your tractor but it might be worth looking at.

Ok, the lever did the trick. However, when I raise the implement up (pressurize the hydrogen cylinder) it slowly drops back down. I guess it could be either the cylinder or the tractor valve leaking. I'll try to find another cylinder totry.

If you are pressurizing a hydrogen cylinder, I wanna be far away! But if it's a single-acting cylinder and it's leaking, you'll see it on the rod end.

Problem is not the implement cylinder. I only have pressure on one direction, ie, one coupling and it leaks down. The other coupling has no pressure at all when shifting the spool valve. I can't find any rebuild kits for the spool valve. See plenty of complete valves but they're expensive. Should I take the spool valve apart?
