One of the better threads I've found on using an arch/tailgate frame log lifter to load a trailer (Sorry if I've posted this before in this thread):

And here is a photo sequence of one in action:

Brought a cart full of softwood cut-offs home from the landing to use in the outdoor fireplace. Turned some of it into kindling for this winter. I keep a bin full in the cellar near the wood stove.

So far I'm liking my timberwolf knockoff splitter. IMG_0390.JPG

Here's one for the front axle police. Because more ballast would have definitely lightened the front axle load. IMG_0409.JPG Here's my wood pile I've been splitting. IMG_0410.JPG

Pretty good pile of wood you have worked up so far. Will take a lot more before your shed is full :D
Is that all for your own use or do you sell it ??

Sell it. I've already got enough wood for several years.

I made a couple of wood racks. I wish I had a source for some more of these pallets. They're big enough to stack 3 rick on and are a lot heavier build than the average pallet.IMG_0431.JPGIMG_0432.JPG

Hey Gordon how do you like your Frost bite grapple? What are its pros and cons?

Hi Mike, I like it quite a bit especially now that I have some time on it. It is a log grapple and that is what it is best for. I use it to load my truck and move logs around. It is good at plucking big rocks also. It is OK for brush but not super because it is narrow and open. Best if the brush pieces are big or the brush piles are compact or stacked.
But because it is narrow I can get around in the woods a lot easier than when I had the bucket on. The difference is amazing.
It will pick and hold a skinny 4" log tight with no rattling around as well as a 36" log.
Because it is narrow it is hard to see what is going on with the jaws at ground level in front of the tractor. So it took some time to get used to using it efficiently but I would not call that a negative. Once you develop the ability to judge where it is things go smooth. Sort of like judging when your bucket is level. After some experience it becomes second nature.

For what I do it is a perfect grapple.
