1987 FOR 555B Coolant in oil.

SO I tore the head off. I mush say their engineers were not mechanic friendly. Getting that gas tank off was a *****. Unfortunately the headgasket appeared to be in good condition or even replaced at one point. I did not see any crossover or visibly torn gasket. I knew I was not getting any combustion gasses into the radiator. because the system was not pressurizing. Someone correct me if I am wrong. But I know have to literally take apart the whole front end to now remove the oil pan. In doing go I have to remove the and drain the tranny lines, hydrolic lines and powersteering lines.

I also have an 87 555b but do not have the problem you describe. I have not had any call to remove the oil pan. So this is NOT the voice of experience.

The service manual Instructions for removal of the oil pan specifically states that removal of radiator hoses, hydraulic lines, or power steering lines is NOT necessary. It does state to be carefull not to damage them during removal of the cast iron oil pan. It is silent regarding the transmission lines, but does not call for disconnecting them as part of the procedure.

I can send you copies of those service manual pages if you want, but if you are embarking on this level of maintenance, you may want to get a copy of the whole service manual. I have seen them on Ebay as hard copy or on a CD relatively cheaply.

That would be great. I have the manual as well but am unable to see anything about the oil pan. can you give me the page #'s as well?

The organization of the service manual is somewhat confusing.

Oil Pan Removal is in Part 1, Engine Systems, Chapter 1, pages 24 - 25.

Well we got her off. What a pain in the ***** to work on. I would hate to be a ford mechanic. Bad news is we do have a porous block or a crack in the sleve. I had a steady drip on the piston closest to the radiator. Looks like i got scammed...

I feel like a big idiot. The guy seemed pretty shady. I was going to send out for an oil analysis But i just got to excited and bought it.

Now i have 2 options finish pulling the engine. Have a machine shop bore it out and install a rebuild kit. Or put it back together and try some blue devil and hope it seals.
