Wanted to share this off our website. I believe it may catch some of you by surprise. Has been a law in Texas since 1997. Now mind you Purple is the color used in Texas and some other states, but not all states use purple or even have a color. Pretty simple ignore the purple and wear the orange jump suit......Darrell.

I saw those marks in rural Arkansas, and didn't know what it meant other than property marks for logging... thanks for sharing, I learned something!

Interesting idea, but the problem I see is public awareness. I've never heard of this before, and I would bet a pretty penny that I am in the overwhelming majority.

You may have never heard of it, but I can assure you most people in the south, particularly anyone that hunts whatsoever, it very familiar with it and knows exactly what it means. In Arkansas, we don't call it "no hunt purple", as it more specifically means "Posted" or "No Trespassing". Extremely common throughout Arkansas and much easier to put up/maintain than "NO TRESPASSING" signs everywhere.

Well this is one reason for me posting it. I have known for some time, but when talking with a friend he had no idea. That is what got me to wondering who all knows. Maybe I didnt put the information out there the right way, but I tried. It hold the same weight and value as a no trespass sign and enforce by law. If your state has this or something similar they should know. I have asked a few. Rather it is city, county or state they should say yes I know exactly what you are talking about.

When I first started moving to Mississippi I was surprised that so few landowners "posted" their land. Then I found out Mississippi is a "no trespassing" by default state. Now with hundreds of acres and probably miles of boundaries I'm darn glad I don't have to paint it purple or post signs.
