'17 2032r (soon)
I have been a long time member of this site! It has taught me so much over the last 10 years. Hopefully I can give back a little. I have scoured the site looking for comments on the new 2017 2032R and couldn't find any.

I recently traded in my older 2012 (if my memory is working) 2025 tractor for the new 2017 2032R.

Order in February, finally showed up in July. That was the first issue.

I ordered the heavy duty bucket at the time of the tractor, it took an additional month to come in. LOL

The tractor came in, cool, so I went down to pick it up, great, so excited, asked how the mower deck auto-down to the cut position worked. They had to go get the mechanics, they didn't know either, but while waiting I figured it out and had to train the dealership.

I get it home, time to cut the grass, I hid a spot a little steep and damp and it starts spinning, so I go to back off, wow the dang thing shuts down! I just found RIO! Needless to say, I have had better blind dates! A couple days later, found out that John Deere actually makes turning this off can be done in the computer! A little playing around, boom, no more John Deere trying to kill me with a "safety feature". Sadly it doesn't shut the tractor down when using a brush cutter, so go figure!

Next, after I get done cutting and the tractor is all warmed up, it starts to creep forward on it's own, first call to the dealership. They come, they fix, and they do it while it is cold. But in the interim, they tell me it wouldn't do it for them. They reprogram, adjust the controls, and all is good while it is new/cold. Use it again, it is all warmed up, and I nearly run off the hill side because it was creeping, and yes I wasn't paying attention, that was definitely my fault, just the creeping wasn't. So they came out again, it works great going down the, it stops on a dime when I let off the pedal. But it will drift backwards... Not as big a deal for me. Probably will still call the dealer again to see if that can be fixed too!

The next issue I noticed was that the lifting capability of the hydraulics seem to be also hampered by the Deere computers (haven't ventured into that part yet to see if that is true). The things I could lift with my old 2025, I can't lift now. Go figure?

Other findings, it is possible with the auto connect deck, that if it isn't connected just right, the mower won't lift to full height. Only had that happen once so far. Still trying to get the auto-connect adjusted as I usually have to yank and tug and BTW, the dealer no help so far.

Yeah, so far sounds like a lot of complaints, but in a lot of ways I do like the tractor. The 3pt hitch, it lowers much lower, goes up a lot of higher. Tilt steering is nice, seat belt is a much better improvement since mine would slip and get wider after a while. Mower deck not connected to the 3pt system is much nicer as well. There are others as well that I would conclude as improvements, but I will try to keep it short.

The only complaint I really have is the RIO, come on, really!? If I run over someone with a 2500lb+ tractor (just guessing the numbers here), you are probably going to be dead anyway, and if I had did have the mower deck engaged, I probably just saved you from pain if you did survive getting ran over.

Brian,
Last year I bought a 2032R, the old style. The salesman explained that in 2017 the tractor was going to be redesigned. I asked what they were changing and he mentioned the drive over deck set up, computer, regents, etc. since I didn't plan on using a MMM, I told him I'll take the current model. My first tractor was a used 750 back I. The late 80's. Gear drive, nice unit. I don't like the idea of putting more electronics on something I want to work hard. So far, my 2032 has performed very well. Much more grunt than my 750 ever had. Hydrostatic makes it very easy to operate. Good luck with yours, hope they get the little bugs worked out.

In all honesty so far, I like the tractor. I think some of the "features" is just an excuse to charge more for it than my car.

I started this thread, with the hopes of attracting current owners for their insights and notifying potential buyers of things to look for and get fixed while under warranty.

But I agree, all the electronics for a work horse is a bit insane.

Not sure on your tractor, my 1026 R I just put a close pin under the pto switch to hold it up and no more shut off when you hit reverse.

Yeah, that doesn't work like that on the new ones, it is all electronic, you basically hold the PTO button down (it's a 3 stage rocker switch) for the bypass each time. But if you get the service manual, you can reprogram the computer to totally disable it. Much cleaner way of doing it. But with every new model, there are the bugs, the "gotchas" and so on. Hopefully some of what I have learned so far will help.
