steering control valve for kubota 2230

Hey, guys, I've got an oil leak in my steering control valve on my Kubota 2230. It's a 2005 model. Last week I gave the old girl a bath with my pressure washer and did a service on her. A couple days later I see oil coming out of the screen that covers the battery. It looks like I have a steering control valve problem. I called my dealer where I bought it and ask them to look it up and tell me what the damages to my pocket book would be. He said, $1180.00 for a new one, I nearly fell out of my chair. So I called another dealer and they had a new one for $848.00.

My question is, has anyone had this problem with there BX2230 and did you find a better price than I did? And if you did where?
If you all can help me out with this information I'd be most grateful.

I had a bx2200, had to replace the hoses after a while. You might want to look at that.

That was the first thing I checked.
That must be a pump with gold in it for that price.
I looked around on the internet and found one for $479.00 in MO. But they are out of stock, won't get any pumps in until Nov.:dance1:

That's the first control valve I've heard of going bad, I thought mine was leaking too, but turned out to be a hose. The hose from the rear started leaking so I replaced that one, then later I noticed a leak from the control valve area so I replaced both those hoses while I had it apart. Hoses aren't cheap, but a lot less than the control valve.

I'm going to get a new one from midwest steering, I don't have the tools to rebuild the old one.
There price is 479.00 that's great compared to what Kubota wants for theirs.
I will keep the old one and all the pdfs plans you have in my shop. You never know someday I might try to rebuilt it.

If you read in the other thread the person called up a local Danfoss rep and they said that it can be rebuilt in the $240 range

I got this installed and it's working like a charm. It's the same part number as Kubota made by the same people Kubota gets there part from and a lot cheaper.

How many hours on the 2230 and were the hydraulic fluid changes kept up with the service schedule?
