Who can ever forget this great showcase of friendliness by a LEO?

This is why exactly why you keep your mouth shut if someones life isn't on the line. And this is exactly how someone who doesn't know their rights gets suckered in...

For every one of those you can find, I can find 100 of citizens abusing LEOs. Is this truly going to be your justification??

My justification of what, to be somewhat distrustful of LEO's?

So are you saying if LEO's are being abused by citizens, it's for the LEO ok abuse peoples rights?

The sad reality is many of us don't even know our rights.

Ultimately, if you are involved with the police investigating YOU, the only sound advice is to keep your mouth shut and talk to attorney. Do you disagree with that statement?

For some reason and I'm not certain as to why, but it seems some people here think you can't be both courteous and respectful while at the same time understand that due to the people involved, your care may not be the primary concern during the ANY conversation:laughing:

That said, I have been guilty of thanking a police officer (with a smile on my face) while they look out for my safety by issuing me a seat belt infraction when uncle sam wouldn't give me the same thoughtfulness when they put a rifle in my hands (apologies, I do find that oh so ironic...).

God, it's not like I hate cops, heck, some are even some good shooting buddies. Ironcially enough, they're friends enough to tell me to keep my mouth shut. Geeze, go figure...

In my late teens early 20's we were a sports car adhoc club that rode often Sat and Sun.
Most had MG's and AH sprites but one had a Jaguar XK150 drop head coupe (rare and very collectable).
One Sunday we gathered to plan a ride and the Jag LEO owner claimed he was low on gas.
He was a LEO and in uniform.
Along came a teen driving a car that was half way between the scrap yard and a little over the limit.
To this day I recall he labeled the (teen) as a 'greener'. (referring to greenbacks??)
The Jag owning LEO took chase and returned 15 mins later and said OK I can fill my gas tank now!

I guess that day was when I lost a lot of respect for SOME LEOs.
Please note I did say some.
I elsewhere posted that I also have met some outstanding ones as well.*

*Gotta post this one!
I was a sales rep covering Northern Ontario, Returning from home (Montreal) I was stopped in North Bay at 2 AM!
Was towing a trailer (no plates as I had purchased on Sat) and was now residing in Sudbury.
The LEO has me for speeding, no trailer lights and I think a light or 2 out.
No papers for the trailer!
I could hear the jail doors going 'clank'!
He let me off with a warning!

LOL, it turned out he was the former sales rep that I was replacing in my territory and when he saw my brief case in the back seat ( it was embossed with company logo) he let me off saying that he knew that on my pathetic salary that I could not afford a citation.

The management did not appreciate his comments as much as I did. (my co workers did applaud however)

Heck yeah, I have good stories as well. Never forget getting a 26 in a 25 in a school zone in Utah (speed trap by school).

State trooper wrote me up, and let me pass for having 6 rounds in my Smith mountain gun (couldn't keep a live round next up which I never knew was a state law there). I still paid the ticket, but we talked about guns and the east coast vs the west for a good 1/2 hour on the side of the road.

By no means do I think all cops are bad, just that you as a civilian have no clue which is which when YOU'RE the one pulled over.

What is coming the way I see it...is new legislation that is not "gun legislation" but it will have the biggest effect on gun owners rights...it is prescription drug legislation...in light of the opioid epidemic and the fact that almost every mass shooting in the last 20 years was carried out by someone on prescription medications...(including Valium etc...)

I see legislation coming (sooner or later) that will connect a database of "listed drugs" and anyone with a prescription for a drug on the list...the database will be searched whenever a concealed carry permit or new gun purchase background check is done and anyone in the database will be flagged...

Sure it will test the constitution on privacy rights and will be tried in the courts...but it's coming...If you have a CCP and have a prescription for a particular controlled medication...it could be in jeopardy down the road...

Respectfully disagree.... HIPAA laws, medical privacy, etc. Don't see that coming any time in the near future.

The medical profession would NEVER get involved with private gun ownership:rolleyes:

Watch and see...prescription data is not necessarily protected...and with a change in gov. and in the majorities of the legislature...along with liberal judges...it can happen...and sooner rather than later...they can change the rules when it involves an already controlled substance...

It won't surprise me if one of the Vegas shooting victims sues the doctor that prescribed the Valium the shooter had...

There's already a database that tracks purchases of pseudoephedrine, used to manufacture meth.
