AH - IslandTractor - you are talking about my southern range with Hwy 127. I do a loop that goes south down to Starbuck and back north on 127 thru Dusty, then Endicott, St John & Ewan to home. I also enjoy Hwy 26 which goes from somewhere around Colfax to somewhere around Seattle. I have to be very careful on Hwy 26 - I tend to get a tad over zealous on that chunk of asphalt.

Not sure what distance you like to cover in a day but riding across to Idaho around Palouse to Harvard to Saint Marie through the St Joe forest was very nice. I'd imagine going around Lake Coeur d'Alene on the way back would be lovely riding too.

Island Tractor----I'm sure you had a great time on your excursion and enjoyed the scenery but as a non-motorcycle rider I have to ask, was it a relaxing trip or did you come home more tired than before you left? (I enjoyed your trip pictures)

A downside of hanging out in threads like this is you end up learning about drool-worthy iron that you can't get in your home market

Recently I was reading on advrider about a couple who vacation on MC in a different country each year - the twist is they arrange to leave their bikes where they finish one year, and fly back to re-start there the next year.

Daydream ON - If I get enough time/money together, I'll have to check our MC importation laws.....Fly to another country, ride an exotic bike that we can't get here on an extended trip - that has to be the ultimate test drive !

Got back from the Smokys on Sunday night. Had a blast. It's like NW Ark. there aren't any bad roads in the Smokys.
When I left early Saturday morning I had to ride the Tail if the Dragon in the dark. Although there was a full moon, it was crazy. Some of it was first gear. You just can't see where the twists and turns are going.
The off the tarmac roads down there are fantastic. I was with 20 other guys. We broke up into four smaller groups. I'll try a pic or two again.

Oleozz, I'm picking up another Setter on Thursday. Our quail numbers are up this year.

Basically relaxing but active at all times. Not like riding in a car. No real physical exertion but constant small changes in throttle and balance. Much more focused on environment than in a car. Only really tiresome day was driving across the plains of eastern CO and KS when significant crosswinds made the ride challenging for seven or eight hours with only one five minute break for gas. I suppose it would have been more “relaxing” if I’d used interstates instead of secondary roads but superslabs are not fun. I found that after riding 7-8 hours a day that a couple of beers and a meal was enough to insure an early bedtime.
I’d kind of like to do it again but probably won’t. The bikes that are big enough to comfortably ride cross country for a month are pretty heavy. I’m going to sell my Super Tenere but will keep fond memories of a flawless machine and fun cross country ride.

That looks super fun.... oh well, just means you'll have to book a flight across the pond, to see if you can get one to follow you back home

MoPops - you are riding some nice back roads on your GSA. Like that setter also. My dad raised Lawellen(sp) setters to hunt quail in North central WA.

I went for a ride on my GSA this AM with the sun shinning like a new dime. Somewhere along the way the gods thought it would be humorous and here came the rain. Last 50 miles was in a downpour. Good this is - everything will dry once you peel it off. Getting to be that time of year, round here, where you got to be aware of wx changes - soon we will have snow.View attachment 524622

They just had the historic road races the week before. A 3 day event. I want to put that on my bucket list.
