I wasn't planning to wear them to a wedding

A few years ago I went to the Red Wing store and asked for the same or equivalent "model" except in a high top, about an 8" boot. Walked out several hundred dollars less but with my new boots. Thankfully there was $100 participation with my purchase from work. Those old boots are like slippers, the new one's....... still new. It's not like they haven't had time to break in either. I'm back to my $60 wal-mart boots that get replaced every 12-18 months, also like slippers.

Back in the 70's I bought a pair of work shoes of a style that was very common while I was a kid in the 50's and 60's. As I remember, they were sold with the Georgia Giant label and the price was between $18.00 and $25.00......

Back in 1974 when I bought a pair of Pierre Paris work boots and had an extra full sole and heel added for Line work they were $131 and this was when the Canadian dollar was worth more than the US dollar.

I used to see lineman's boots in catalogs. I couldn't believe those prices either.

As I remember, they were sold with the Georgia Giant label and the price was between $18.00 and $25.00. They had a smooth corked rubber sole good for scrapeing off mud and manure. Well, until yesterday, I hadn't been able to find that style of work shoe. They're $225.00 and I've got sticker shock. Red Wing for Brooks Brothers 4522 Brown Pebble Leather Boots - Brooks Brothers.

Here you go. Not much less but maybe more what you are looking for.
Men's 1178 NailSeat 11-inch Pull-On Boot | Red Wing Work Boots

I have three pair of these and the oldest is well over 20 years old. Still good work boots.

They look really good. I've got a similar pair of $100.00 boots and can't make myself wear them in the pasture. If these cost more than that I might have to save them for church.

I think I wear a similar Red Wing boot like his. But they have a moe aggressive sole on them. Not a smooth one. For me a Red Wing boot feels good to work on my feet all day long. Jon
