This is for the eMax owners. What tips or tricks have you learned?

I found that the seat couldn't move back far enough. It always seemed cramped. I ended up adding 1/2" of hight by using nuts for spacers (longer bolts needed) and drilling holes 1" forward.

I had the dealer do something similar when I purchased the 2538. He added a 2" piece of "U" channel to each side, thus raising the seat by 2". Big help.

I also had him add a "dead man's switch" (hidden) for an ignition interrupter, to (help) prevent unauthorized use.

Both were part of the purchase deal, along with his normal prep of water & antifreeze in the back tires, and free delivery.

I had to modify the seat on my 1533 so that I could move it back further to get more legroom. Now I read in the owners manual
"WARNING: Do not change the seat bracket position but maintain the seat bracket position as is. There is a possibility of serious injury or death due to altering the seat bracket position."

At least my knees won't be sore due to cramped conditions when I die.

Almost to the 50hr mark and preparing for the service. This might be for more tractors than the eMax...

To remove the suction screen, is it best to remove the rear tire?

What about the o-rings? Replace or reuse?

replace and yes take the tire off... zip ties go a long ways with those emax tractors.. I wont ever let them run at idle

Thanks.

Why won't you let them idle?

It lets everything on the tractor rattle bad

The only rattle I found was the FEL release pins. A tie wrap on each quieted them right up!

Yep, seems to be a lot of harmonics at idle. A slight increase in RPM's and every thing is happy!

New to the site, can anyone tell me the trick to removing the HST filter on a eMax 25?

You will just have to give it all you can without tweeking the mount... first one is always a pain.. be sure to put clean oil on the seal before you put the new one back on and get hand tight with half a turn on a wrench

What's the best way to get to it. Should I be able to get it loose without taking anything off. I have one of the oil filter wrenches that is supposed to work from the end of the filter, but I can seem to get it to grip. Thanks

Yes sir I usually use a plyer style wrench...

if all else fails a punch and cheater works

I noticed a definite HST noise reduction after the full 50hr service. I say "full" as I changed the engine and HST oil at 45hrs as I had a smallish job lined up and didn't want to push the OEM oil too far.

After a full service at 52hrs the hydraulic noise of the transmission is almost zero. There's some but it's what you'd expect.

Oh, and make sure you have a BIG drain pan for the transmission!!

HST filter hints...

Remove the return hose just below the filter. Let it drain a bit then you can get a wrench around the filter.

To clean the suction screen you don't have to remove the tire. It just clears with a little tilt.

Let me just say it was a Laurel and Hardy moment. I had the ~4gal of oil to fill, just never had the 'Ahaa!' moment. :banghead: More like AAAHHHHHHGGGHHHH!

None on the garage floor (thankfully).
