Make sure you've got at least 1000 lbs weight box on the 3-point before enjoying your new capacity. tricycling isn't as much fun as it sounds especially down hill without front brakes.
Also, keep your eyes out for a 430 loader. It's superior in every way to the 420.

Thats no joke! Ive done some of that in the past. ha!

Can you put the 430 on this tractor?

The 430 was never approved for the 42xx machines.

From the Online Manual:
Approved Tractors

The 430 Loader is designed for use on 990, 970, 1070, 4300/4310, and 4400/4410 2-WD and 4-WD John Deere Tractors.

The 460 Loader is designed for use on 4500/4510, 4600/4610, 4700/4710, and 2-WD and 4-WD John Deere Tractors.

That must have been a marketing decision to push people toward the 43/44xx. Cycle times would be a little slower on a 42xx but other than that I can't really think of any technical reason a 430 loader wouldn't fit and work in place of a 420.

Good info there. I might be purchasing said gauge! I'm assuming that is your business?

I too thought it was not approved for the 42xx tractors. While it should work. I'm sure there was a reason it wasn't used on it. Who knows.

I have one of Kenny's gauges myself. It is worth the money and a must have if your going to mess with your relief valve.
You could put one together yourself, but by the time you go through the hassle of getting the components, you won't save anything.

Ps. Start saving your pennies and buy a skid loader!
