We have a 2014 Mahindra 5010 Cab 4WD gear and so far really enjoy it. Yesterday I was bush hogging and a limb caught the return fuel line and pinned it under the plastic diesel tank resulting in the tractor stopping due to lack of fuel. We were able to unscrew the tank, extract the fuel line (no leaks) and reattach it to the top of the diesel tank. Unfortunately, this resulted in air in the fuel lines and in fuel filter.
We followed the owners manual and opened the "fuel cock" (wife got a chuckle out of that), and got the tractor running.

Our problem is now, no matter what position the "fuel cock lever" is in, we have diesel flowing out of the clear tube on the top of the fuel filter assembly. In the pics, it is the hose pointed to with the red arrows.

Anyone have an idea as to what is wrong and more importantly, how to repair it?

Thanks

If I’m understanding this correctly the valve now leaks? If that’s the case it’s most likely a very small piece of debris stuck down there. I’d move the valve through all positions with some pressure on line feeding the filter. You may even need to move the valve a bit while it’s running- not far enough to kill it but just enough to try and move the debris.

That type of valve usually has a special seal (a ring with multiple holes) and can get torn, or have debris cause it to fail to seal. Removing the screws behind the lever will generally get you to where you can pull out the seal and clean it. There should be a spring washer, and the back of the lever is part of the valve. In some cases, it can be reversed, if torn (obviously it would need to be symmetrical. Other similar valves use separate O-rings, even easier to fix.

Yes, I think the valve is leaking ... does anyone have a diagram or exploded view of how these o rings are to set or be oriented?

Thanks, do you happen to have a parts diagram or illustrated exploded view to show haw the o ring should fit back in?

If it was hit im betting you will need a whole new filter housing... this would be the easiest fix either way

please do not waste time trying to repair it... iv been there

It's such a simple device that ten minutes will tell you whether it's fixable, and that ten minutes is much cheaper than a new filter/valve assembly.

Not if the part that is needed to fix it is not offered

Ok, I broke down and removed the 2 screws. Behind the “lever” was a round black rubber “wager” with three large holes and two small holes. These holes apparently have to look up with the holes in the valve Brody and they were not. A little diesel oil on the black rubber allowed the lever to move without moving the washer. So it now works!
