You can certainly tell the people who never got spanked as a child. Geez

You can certainly tell the people who never read the Founding Fathers, or understood why America has a Constitution which limits government powers.

There are additional issues with a firearm on board a pressurized airplane..

No there aren't.

Hollywood neither knows nor cares about reality, especially when it comes to firearms and explosions. Any modern airliner already has a series of of holes in its skin, equipped with valves. They are called, "outflow valves". These bleed out excess air pumped in from the engines, and maintain cabin pressure. Punch a half-dozen .45 caliber holes in the skin and those valves will just close down a little bit. No pressure loss, no catastrophic results. Nothing. No prisoners being sucked out of windows. No crashing planes.

You can watch it proven on Youtube.

I only agree if those six bullets simply exit the skin without hitting anything vital on the way out. Kinda like going thru a human body.

And you still haven't learned that seat belts save lives? Of all the forced upon us safety regs this one I have to say is the best. If I had been wearing my safety belt back in 1970, I wouldn't have all the problems with my neck now which was broken when I punched a hole in the windshield with my head. The car I was in was one of the first to include shoulder harness along with safety belts but of course we didn't use them.

Statistically speaking, yes, seat belts do save lives.

That said, I did survive rolling my VW down a hill without a scratch coming back from diving on a wintery road with TWO scuba tanks flying around me.

Use to do a lot of hard core whitewater, as well as rock climbing, as well as my back being screwed up from jumping courtesy of the government. Nothing to do with autos.

Ultimately, when it's your time, it's your time. Heck, I gave up motorcylces years ago because I realized that there were too many idiots riding in cars.

But, as you stated, it's a forced regulation put upon us by the state, and that is ultimately what I have an issue with. I just find it ironic that the state cares so much about our safety that they fine us if we don't wear seat belts.

When I rode a motorcycle, would I wear my helmet? Heck yeah, to me it would be stupid if you didn't. That said, if someone doesn't want to wear a helmet, even though I may think their stupid for not wearing one, I don't see why they should be forced to wear one.

December 29, 1965, my partner hit a tree head on accelerating flat out at about 40 mph in a 1964 Ford squad car. He hit a bad chuck hole that broke a worn tie rod end loose which caused the car to go left. I was wearing my seat belt (no shoulder belts at that time) but it broke. I've no doubt I would have been killed without the belt. But I'd been wearing seat belts since 1962 when I installed them myself in my first new car; a 1962 Austin Healy Sprite. And I still wear them ALWAYS!

However, like you, I don't like the idea of a law that only makes you protect yourself, so I never liked the seat belt laws. I always felt the same way about the law requiring motorcycle riders to wear a helmet. However, a former police chief in another state told me of a study that was done that indicated a huge amount of tax money spent on disabled accident victims. So maybe such laws do more than make you protect yourself. But like many other people, I still don't like such laws.

True story...

Guy I knew was riding a 70's muscle car (in 1982) with his buddy. Car hit a pole. Buddy survives the crash as he's thrown from the car (other guy killed wearing a seat belt). They bring in a chopper to fly buddy to a hospital. Chopper takes off, 5 minutes later, crashes, killing everyone on board.

None of us are promised tomorrow as we could be killed walking across the street.

Generally now adays I do wear my seat belt, that's not a given it's going to save me though.

I'm a welder, I get insulted, does that count.............
Hi there oldpath.

My grandson works in construction in steel mill . Two guys just died at work suffocating to death because of some deadly gasses. Didn't even make the news.
Around the country plant workers die daily. How many farmers died in silos? One here, one there and it mounts up. I agree fire and police work is dangerous.
Working around heavy equipment , machinery furnaces etc has it's bad times too. A little more than insults. No mater what we do, watch out.

Cheers Coffeeman

Yes there are. I am a aerospace structural engineer. I’m not talking about rapid decompression and I don’t care to elaborate. Myth busters... love the show, but give me a break.

That has nothing to do with it being a pressurized vessel.
