Anyome have knowledge or experience rebuilding Tractor Wet Brake Actuators?

There is not much to them but springs, steel balls, and the actuator bodys.
Springs and balls are available and reasonable priced.
The bodys not so much.

If your talking about the Ford, taking it apart and cleaning it goes a long way. These brakes are the same as Massey wet brakes and the usual culprit is the the pivot pins and linkage freeze up due to corrosion. You apply the brakes but they won't release due to the pins hanging up. Hope this helps.

Smokepole62,

Thanks,

Just weighing the price of replacing the actuators (OEM's are pricey) vs the time and effort to pull the trumpets to get to them. Expect to replace the friction and intermediate plates. Might just replace the balls and springs if the actuators are structurally sound and friction surfaces are not damaged.

You'll find the balls and ball races with no measurable wear 95% of the time with wet brakes. Replace the springs if it makes you feel better. Friction surfaces depending on condition. Often they are able to be re used.

Chewwy,
Check out youtube for a video on it . Canadian Massey owner tore one apart and if I remember correctly, He just replaced the springs and balls after resurfacing the actuator plates with a grinder.

I found a video that showed Canadian repairing the actuator for a MF with dry brakes. Actuator looks similar to wet brake actuator. It is helpful.

Thanks!
