Finally broke ground for my new garage. Soon my tractor and related equipment will have a new home!!

The new garage is 60x60. In addition to the tractor stuff it will also house a motor home, vehicles, car lift, and small office/bathroom/shower. I have rear access to the property so I won't have to use the main residence driveway. It's will be nice to keep my motor home at the house, instead of shuttling back and forth to get ready for a trip.

After much consideration, I am putting a 100a subpanel in for power, (not 200a,) and I brought in a dedicated 1 1/4 direct line from the well for water service. Everyone said a dedicated water line was better than trying to tap into something at the residence.

The best part: it will have an outside concrete pad. So at the end of the day I will be able to pull onto the concrete and hose the tractor down before putting it (and the mud) into the garage.

Point to remember: There is no such thing as a garage too big !!!
Even at 3600 sq. ft., you WILL run out of space at some point.

Sounds like it's gonna be nice. I can't wait to see how you span 60 feet. Will it be metal or wooden trusses?

How high will the walls be and how big will your door be to get your tractor into it?

That will be really nice. But I fear my few implements might get lost in a building that big.

I have a 2 year old 40' X 60' X 14' red iron building.
You need to know that they shrink after you put them up! :)

I like the size of 3600 square feet with a large gable end garage door...

The one I designed and never built was 40 x 90...

It must be a great feeling to see your plan become reality.

Is this Nevada or CA?

Thank you all. This is a big undertaking and I appreciate the positive comments.

It's a metal building, at the rear of my Nevada property. I have a similar metal building (60x50) in California which has served me well, and which I will sell when this is completed.

There are three columns (one each end and center) that span 60 feet for clear space in the middle. The top "plate" on the side (with eave) is about 16 feet to accommodate a 14 foot high rollup door for my motor home. With 4/12 pitch the roof height will be about 26 feet. I have five rollup doors total, ranging from 10x8 for my Massey SCUT to 14x12 for my motor home. I only wanted one "walk door" but to meet code I had to put in two.

Hard to believe, but with a 44 foot motor home and slides extended it takes up between 1/4 and 1/3 of the building, if you count a comfortable buffer to walk around and do work on it. So, throw in a few vehicles, a car lift, and a tractor and implements-- and I can already see the building filling up. That's before it starts "shrinking" as was just pointed out.

Sounds great.... you might have the option to all a lean-to if you need more covered space later...

The last 24 months several I know have pulled up stakes in California and moved to NV...

26 at the peak might make a loft practical too.

There is a Del Webb community development in NW Reno, NV that has thousands of homes. (Somersett) Two thirds of those homes have been sold to CA residents fleeing to Nevada ....
