Mahindra 1526 Limp Front bucket

New member, first post, first tractor!
When I'm back dragging with some pressure on the bucket (Front tires off the ground) and I try to feather it out by just
curling up my bucket the bucket just goes limp as soon as my tires are back on the ground that is? I can raise my fel and get off the tractor at that time and actually lift the bucket by hand!
Once I curl it some more it's stiff again. I went to the dealer and tried some other Mahindras on the lot and they did it to? Is there a way to fix this? I can make this happen at low or high rpm.
Also when dumping a load at low rpm my bucket will pause at about 45 degrees from level and then continue to dump?
Any thoughts?

The FEL control has what is known as a float mode. When you push the joystick all the way forward the FEL lift/lower is limp as you describe. You should still have curl in that mode.

It's caused by air in the cylinders. It's very common - happens on every machine I've used. Lots of threads on this issue also.

Does your machine have a fast dump? If you use that it will pressurize both sides of the cylinder and tighten it up. You can also cycle the bucket fully a few times to remove the air.

Float seems to works fine. I don't know if it has fast dump, it dumps awfully slow so I don't think so. Is there a way to avoid getting air in the cylinders or is it something I'll just have to get used to.

Back dragging with that much weight on the bucket is going to cause problems. Mainly bent cylinder rods.

If you read your FEL owners manual you will notice that back dragging at more than a 15 degree down angle is prohibited as there are no port reliefs in the FEL hydraulic circuit and you will damage the cylinders.

I welded a scraper L Angle on the back edge of my buckets to back drag. Plus some 1/4" thick side Plates to the bucket edge.
Back dragging still beats up the loader, but with a lot less leverage than the front cutting edge.

it has to do with the oil dumping out of the cylinders faster then it can get back into them, do a search on tractorbynet it will give you all the info you need. I have it on my 2538, if you cycle the bucket all the way down and hold it there until it hits the relief (you will hear the motor) then cycle it back to where you want the bucket set for back dragging it is fine.

But do a search on "limp bucket" it is all right here in Tractorbynet!!!!
