One thing I have not seen discussed in this thread is re-holstering the hand gun

In many respects, re-holstering can be the most dangerous aspects of carrying...especially a handgun with no external safety.
I am NOT an IWB fan...
And depending on the competition venue, you have to reholster.

The flip side is that in communist states like mass, having a gun visible can create problems, and IWB holsters really help. The better ones are stiff enough to be able to reholster as long as you haven’t cranked your belt tight.

Fortunately, I don't live in a totally leftist state...
OWB holsters can be concealed, depending on a couple factors...size of the gun (my Ruger SR9 isn't particularly concealable, but the Kahr CW9 most certainly is) and how one dresses. It is easier, of course, to conceal an OWB holster in the cooler months.
I've had a few IWB holsters...just never found them comfortable.
