Thanks for posting the number. WIX has always been a top of the line filter manufacture. They could even be a better filter them OEM Yanmar. They could also make the filter for OEM Yanmar. What's always most important is the oil change interval and in my experience more often is better.

Today I purchased one factory oil filter PN 40356015 ($27.49) and one WIX PN 51365 ($8.29) to compare.

Installed the WIX and put the Factory one on the shelf.

That is quite pricey for an engine oil filter. Being a Yanmar engine in yours, is there an engine OEM rather than an LS? I wouldn't say that WIX is a bad filter, but where you can get into trouble is probably more so on the hydraulic side of things. IE who really knows the degree of filtration (micron rating/ amount of media) inside. That being said , it looks as though that the LS filter is dished more inward from your pic? I see that in certain Honda and Toro imported filters that have that same inward dish. Just be careful that there is good clearance on the block for the center of the WIX . Though filter companies make the bulk of the filters , it is important to know that it protects and does no harm.

Yes, but is there a side by side comparison or details of the LS filter?

LS mt125 owner, I looked at both the Yanmar and LS numbers and didn't see a micron rating. The Deere equivalent shows as a 20 micron. If you prefer the OEM filters to be sure, the OEM Yanmar filter is quite a bit less. Someone could do surgery on the LS / Yanmar filter that came on the tractor and see how it compares to the Deere in appearance. They are cheap and available if one wants an aftermarket.

One of those a picture is worth a 100 words type of thing. Nice amount of media in there compared , I think to the cut away of the Deere. So, is there a check valve in this filter? I see the spring - not sure if that is just to hold the media tight to the end.
