Unrelated to the topic at hand, but on this note, I've watched that TV series from time to time and could NEVER figure out how a guy living outside of Boone qualifies as a "mountain man".

A few CSRA's in my area dont use much more than 3 acres. You can grow a good bit on 3 acres, but dont quit your day job.

EXCEPT, you can NOT (in Michigan) get a tax break on your land "farm exception" on those small chunks of land. SO, I guess not every gov. agency in Mi. considers those guys farting around on an acre or two "farming"...
