Deer Hunting Season '17... + 1 woman, + 1 truck

It seems that things have gone a wee bit wrong in one Upper New York county. So far this season, a woman who was walking her dog and, now, a pick-up truck have been shot (and killed... yes the PU is dead) within a matter of days.

We are not hunters. We have horses on our property. I wear hunter orange during hunting season if I am not staying up by the house. Horses have orange on as well.

Do not call these "accidents"... there is NO excuse to blindly discharge a gun without absolutely knowing what the target is. I hope they put both of these people away for a long time.

Agreed - that was no accident. I always love these guys who don't handle a firearm all year, then grab a gun, go out in the woods and call themselves hunters.:shocked:

To many fools go hunting one time a year, and they are shooting at noise and movement. Sometimes we get lucky and they hit nothing of importance sometimes they hit something
that they are aiming towards. I would like to see these people prosecuted fully for their stupidity and the complete lack of respect they show to firearms. The ******* that shoot the woman
was using a pistol (legal) shooting after sunset (illegal) and apparently just shooting at a vague shadow and movement, he needs to be put away. I can't even begin to think of the number of times it was drilled into my head to constantly be aware of your surroundings and back ground when hunting and how far a round could travel. To many jackasses today with no idea of what is happening.

we also had an incident in a neighboring county, one guy in a hunting party go hit
by another guy in the same party, i guess the story was the deer was between them,
the guy got grazed in the head and is going to be fine...
he should have bought a lottery ticket that day huh?

We've had a couple of these mishaps around my area.

Sad to say, everyone that I've read up on (even outside my area) generally the stupid person ends up losing their hunting license or a fine, and that's it no matter how stupid they are.

Only can hope the civil lawsuit cost them an arm an a leg where they can no longer buy ammo.

I'm not a hunter, but I do think it's a great sport.
Hunter safety courses are available in most, if not all, states.

The hunter that shot the woman supposedly shot after sunset, which is illegal on NYS. He was also using a "pistol" for a 200 yard shot. Now, the pistol was probably scoped...but at dusk, a scope isn't much help.
I don't know how the woman was dressed. But people walking in a field during hunting season should be wearing bright yellow or orange, for safety's sake.
