Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Hi LD,

Thanks, I was wondering if that was how you were doing it- I'll have to get one of those blades.

Thanks also for the reminder about safe practices- I'm almost always scrupulous about those things- I get a fair amount of practice pulling metal fragments out of corneas at work, AND suturing the digits that got too close to the spinning metal, so a lot of the safety stuff comes naturally any more.

I thought about going along with the recall for the Craftsman saw, but after looking into it, I found out that they don't just want the motor, they require return of the whole carriage it uses to attach to the arm as well [which is good sense on their part as it completely disables the saw], and that would be a shame as I'm happy with the whole thing otherwise- and I'm extremely cautious with any chance of blade contact no matter how I use it.

Thanks again,
PA
We had the model with DRO that worked well and years ago recall had option of new table and guards so completed.

But arm made of rolled steel and chappy design so loose fit.

Picked up an older model all cast iron but same motor so transfered parts to new to us unit and sent in DRO model and got our 100 bucks...The older one substantial better unit.

Still have the frame to make something out of...

I noticed the 2-ton aluminum racing floor jack is back on sale for $120. I've only used mine once, but I thought it was great.

I'm kind of wishing I'd purchased one of the new Predator 3500W inverter generators back when they were $649.

This Harbor Freight 11/16 end wrench definitely does not suck. I needed to get the chuck off my old Milwaukee drill so I could install the Right Angle attachment. Have not had to do that for decades so the chuck was on pretty solid. The spindle nut is 11/16 but the opening is too narrow for a standard end wrench. In years past I would grind down a Craftsman wrench and that would do the job, but I did not want to grind one of my good remaining Craftsman tools. So went to HF and got the set for $9. Ground the wrench down to about 1/2 its thickness using a belt sander. The sparks were bright and lively so I figured the steel had to be pretty good. When it was thin enough I put it on the spindle nut and hammered away on the chuck tool. The chuck finally came off but not easily. So this HF wrench has been given a real torture test and performed perfect. I also used it to assemble the Right Angle attachment but that was a piece of cake.
