Hello all. I'm Tim in Lenoir, NC. I own a lawn & garden shop where we sell & service outdoor power equipment fork work or for play, (mowers, chainsaws, tillers, paving machines, etc to go-carts, four-wheelers, motorcycles, etc). I am also an ex maintenance man; machinist; & tool maker. I always thought I was mechanically inclined but this tractor problem has me stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim

OK, it's probably just me but, it would greatly help get advice if you were to describe the problem. ;)

Sorry. Had described problem on an earlier post but I guess it didn't go through.
Problem is I blew a hose on the loader on my Ford 540 Industrial tractor. It blew right @ the spool (control valves). I replaced the hose & fluids. Loader works fine now but the three pt. hitch quit working. Isn't the three pt. & the loader on two separate hyd. systems??????
Thanks, Tim

Tim,
I'm fairly new to this forum but welcome you anyway.

Reference your problem, I don't know your tractor but, are you sure your hydraulics isn't air locked? It could be as simple as "bleeding" the air out of the system. Others may have better advice.

Tim,

I am not familiar with the 540 but typically there is one hydraulic system on a tractor - I assume you only fill one reservoir - correct?

I am not sure what you took apart to replace the hose but I suspect only the hose which is after the valve. the pump should be supplying pressure to both the three point and the loader valve and I cannot think of how you would have caused an air lock issue in the 3 pt by changing a loader hose. I would play with the 3 pt hitch speed control to see if you can get the hitch to move. I have seen strange things happen and this fixes it but I am not sure what was wrong.

I wish I had a really good option for you. Hopefully someone else will chime in.
