I grab the free small blue tarps often... we wear them out dragging clippings, and pruning, cannot beat the price. . I also like the moving blankets and drape them over various shop tools that are not being used. I also keep one in each vehicle to use as a bed when I need to get on my knees or worse when working on a vehicle, whether at home or on the road. :thumbsup:

I have several of the ~72 x 42 moving blankets I use to cover my table saw, etc. better than tarps IMHO.

If you had our humidity .... it would be obvious. I致e never had any rust issues with the blankets. Clean and wax table saw top far less often.

Sometimes in the spring I have lots of humidity and sometimes even condensation. How would they work in that situation?

I've used the tarps for lots of stuff. The one time I tried to use one to cover a load in the pickup bed, the eyelets ripped out and it shredded itself before I got halfway to my destination (11 miles away). They seem fine for light duty, but definitely don't stand up to much in the way of wind.

The thin blue tarps are definitely for stationary use, any wind whipping covering a pickup load at highway speeds and they self destruct. I try to keep a few around for the "emergency cover" use, like covering an unexpected bargain pile of lumber.

One more question. Since I get actual soaking condensation inside the barn and on equipment, etc, wouldn't the fiber in the blanket trap moisture and get wet, making things worse?

Maybe you should try to resolve condensation issues?

If you put a blanket on table saw Top and soak it with a hose and leave it in place ....... yes there will be issues.

Or ....... maybe blankets with tarps on top of them?

Condensation is typical of the Midwest with a metal barn and concrete floor after a wide temperature warmup in early spring. Could only fix that with lots of $$, full insulation, insulated rollup doors and a heating system. Plus, money for the divorce and settlement. For the few times it happens, I cover with tarps but will now also try the moving blanket underneath. Sounds like a good idea and that is my plan after I find my free blanket coupon.

My closest store sometimes has camo moving blankets. Get some of them and you might never find your equipment again.

I went into Walmart recently and wanted some of those small round band aids for the less severe cuts I inflict on myself. The millennial pharmacist told me where they were and added something I forgot. She said they were the new "invisible" bandaids. I asked he "how will I ever find them" and she had no clue. She still must wonder.
