Bodum Pebo Vacuum Coffee Maker | Crew Review - YouTube <<<<Another gizzmo I never knew about so I checked it out, now who wants to do this every morning, probably for city people who's part scientist and chemist with a test tube kitchen. I really cant see people in the country making coffee this way. This constitutes a show of hands, really like to know if a farmer, logger, carpenter, welder, mechanic, blue collar worker makes their coffee this way.

My parents had an electric version of this type of coffee maker in the 1950s !

Funny. So many people with debt and no money just pull into the nearest Tim Hortons for their fix.

Why do some rural dwellers think people who live in cities are idiots? Guess that should be a different thread.

The video starts, “Looking for an alternative way to brew your coffee?” Nope.

I was curious though.Turns out vacuum coffee makers were invented in 1830 in Germany. Bodum was a Dane, not French.

Funny how tastes evolve. I can remember running into another Cav unit along the border in Germany. Had a Coleman stove and a thermos with coffee that was two days old, going on three. Fired up the stove, reheated the two day old coffee in canteen cups, and thought we’d died and gone to heaven!

"probably for city people who's part scientist and chemist"<<<< I never heard of one of those kinds of people being an IDIOT, leave it to City people, lawyer or a politician to put a bad spin on something, that just proves how different they are, I should know, I have two daughters living in a city, fortunately they grew up in the country in an old fashion Baptist church so the'r not snobbish.

My parents had that Presto model for years. So one nostalgia vote. It still worked when it got tossed, at least 20 years old.

Drip or Percolated coffee...which is best?

We use a Zojarushi drip with stainless carafe, and a stainless Thermos French press for Car camping.

And note which percolator they recommend: the Presto 08211 I linked in the first post.

Thanks!

I’ll leave it to others to judge your words.

A 22 year old Presto: That's impressive!!!

I take it Dip It is available at most stores/Walmart/etc.? I've never heard of it before.

Thanks for the input!

I think we’ve been getting the Dip it from Amazon, it’ll clean you thermoses, stainless cups as well.

And our Presto usually makes 2 or 3 pots a day!

So I ended up buying the Presto I linked to in my first post (linked again below for your convenience) and I recieved it a week or so ago.

Makes great coffee! And Hot! No more having to preheat my coffee cup because of the low temp coffee from the drip-crap machine.

And of course, while I was waiting for my Presto to arrive, my lovely wife ordered an antique percolator that's supposed to be in excellent condition. She got it via an auction, don't know when it will arrive. The good news about that one is that it has the old glass coffee viewing doo-hickey on top, so you can watch the coffee brewing.

Thanks for the help!
