Is that a farm or a lot of lawn?

Both-ish, lots of lawn and a hobby farm stuffed in the back part of the lot.

I live in basically a suburb but my house and 6 others live in a island of not in city limits, we are in the township so we can have animals. Everyone has around 3 acres, two of us have cattle, few others have chickens etc.

That is till we are forcefully annexed or they shut our water off. I have had 3 letters threatening to shut my water off unless I pay to annex in which I’m not going to do I would dig a well before. I already have septic on the property I can hook back up. Fun stuff lol

I understand. two sides of my property are city limits but I have 18 acres and in Indiana they cannot forcefully annex you if you have over 15. I have city water and natural gas but I still use the septic.

We can’t forcefully be annexed into the village of the town that I live by, in 2007 the village drafted a law that says any property on Village water and septic sold after 2010 has to be annexed into the village within 90 days of sale or they will no longer supply water to that property. I am the second sale since 2010 and I have lived in the house three years now LOL

The rule goes is the village will pay for your annexation if you and your neighbors decide to go into the village if it’s only one property the fee is on that property owner. So that’s the game they’re trying to play.

If I annexed into the village my taxes will go up and I’ll have to get rid of my animals so I’ll have 3 acres of lawn to mow again.

I can delay the inevitable but eventually I’ll have to annex into the village. My next move would be sitting down with the mayor and tell him the situation and see if he decides to push it or if he just lets me pay my water bill. I think I’m paying $70 a month for 2000 gallons of water usage, trash and septic all rolled into one bill. 3000 gallons a month is $90 and 4000 gallons a month is over $100 which I have hit wants water in the cattle in the middle of the summer

around here, annexations grandfather the rights as is to the current property owner, for things like livestock, land usage, etc. We had a small acreage residence adjacent to our residential subdivision that had a farm for housing petting zoo animals that when annex was allowed to continue operation, as well as a corner property that contained cattle for a pharmaceutical company, both operated until the properties were sold, then they were forced to conform to new zone regulations. I'm surprise that isn't the case for you.

Apply a little HEAT

I am in the same camp as the three that already suggested heat. Use a torch to get it good and hot and then use the sledge to tap it like you were before.

I’m sure they would let me keep my animals (never talked to them about it), if I agreed to pay for the annexation, but if I ever sell, the fence and barns would kinda seem a little useless without livestock.

The village is also talking about starting a lawn management program, not sure how that would work on 3 acres if I don’t mow it all every week.

Stuff like this should be told to the buyer when the property is sold, I was never informed and just received a letter in the mail asking why I never signed a petition not to annex.

For those reasons it might almost be worth digging a well and hooking septic up. For what I pay in water bills I could have a well paid off in less than 10 years. And I wouldn’t have to worry about that when I sell the place.

You need a bigger hill

I was thinking the same. The hill I did this on is pretty steep but not very long and goes into my driveway that kinda tilts the other way so the truck would not go far.

He would be better off tying off to a big old tree and have someone driving the truck while he bangs on the hitch. Or comealong the truck between two trees but that could break something else

True but you don't always have a capable second person. Back to the original subject?
