Evidently the power beyond plug is installed so it would work fine like that. The light hose would be fine to as long as just used to dump.

So the power power beyond port would be used in a different way?

It would normally be used if another control valve was down stream, however, if used that way the valve would also need the outlet hose going to the tank. I am really confused about the way yours is hooked up. I know when I plumbed my old tractor for power beyond the particular valve I had needed to have a plug added. I did that and when not in use the flow would go straight through the power beyond outlet to the next usage which in my case was the 3 point lift. But when the loader valve was actuated it shut of the power beyond port and the flow went through the outlet hose back into the sump.

If your valve has a manufacture model number you might look it up for instructions. If your running with the pto and not the tractor pump and it has worked that way then it must be ok.

This is how mine was when I got it.
The first picture I'm pointing to the port labeled OUT. The second is the port currently being used for return oil. It's labeled PB

Thanks for posting the pictures, Chevy. I know that posting photos into TBN messages is initially a challenge, but it works well enough once you figure out which steps to take in what order.

The short answer is that the loader valve in your photo is hooked up poorly for use with the accessory hydraulic pump. The "OUT" port - not the PB port - should be going to the top of the oil reservoir in the loader upright. See my photo below
Doing it as you have it plumbed right now will work the loader OK with no damage, but it will make the dump functions slow down.

You may be able to simply reverse the connections. But read all this first. I say "may be able", because normally when the PB port is not being used the PB port is blocked with a special long plug that has dual functions. What looks like a simple bore plug is actually called a "PB Plug" and usually has an "O" ring for sealing one pressure cavity inside the loader block and part of the length is also drilled out hollow to carry fluid between two internal paths. If the PB function is not being used, then the PB port must be sealed with that proper loader plug in order to use the loader valve as a non-PB type valve. And that is what is needed here - like 99% of the loaders out there, your loader valve needs to be configured as a non-PB type valve.

But there is one possible hangup. In your photo I don't know if the cap that is blanking off your "OUT" port is AICO'S special PB cab and just being stored in the OUT port for convenience - that might be true because some valve manufacturers did make their loader valves so that you could store an unused PB valve in an unused port in just that way....but not all manufacturers did it that way.

Here is what I would do.....If you unscrew the cap that is currently blocking off your OUT port, and it is longish plug with special looking drillings and maybe an O ring then my bet is that you can just reverse the PB and OUT caps so that they look like my photo below. BUT THEN TEST IT!! Do it carefully and back off immediately if the motor begins to bog down. If the wrong PB cap is put into the loader valve then dead-ended hydraulic pressure is going to break things. DANGEROUS! The valve could blow up, hoses rupture, or break the hydraulic pump. So be careful.
Luck,
rScotty

I'll pull the plug out and check it out. I take it the specific plug is a flow divider or check valve

Maybe. I don't know if I've ever seen one with moving parts in the plug but there is bound to be one.....maybe several.

Near as I can tell, in these basic valve the PB plug simply connects internal passages in the valve body when it closes off the port. Different manufacturers use different schemes. THere are even some valves on the market that have special ports & plugs to convert from the common basic open center to a closed center/accumulator type hydraulic system.
Designing those valve bodys to be milled out of a block of cast iron must be like assembling a puzzle in the dark.

That is why make and model of your valve could be important. If American made you might find instructions on line.

Haven't been able to really work on it much but I got to thinking the other day while I was using it, while booming down it loads the engine like it's going over relief. I'm betting it having power beyond as the only means of return oil is causing it. Without having a decent hydraulic diagram I won't be for sure until I hear it apart.

Well I tore it apart tonight. The port labeled OUT tat was plugged ,is just a standard plug. The PB fitting that is going to the loader frame tank is just a standard 90* orb fitting to a npt threaded Barb.

After taking the PB plug out. I see a passage just inside from the sealing surface for the ORB oring. I can't find anything in my loader manual that says anything about this. The ports are different sizes but the am unsure if I can plug this with a standard plug or not.
