I live in MA, I have to be civil to all those anti's around here. This state is one of the worst in the country, they have an approved list for the hand guns you are allowed to purchase, if it is not on the list (which is very short) you cant buy it.

With all of the thousands of models of handguns available, how on earth could a politician come up with a list of "approved" handguns? What criteria would they use, and why? What is the reason for having a list in the first place? Is there also a list of approved automobiles? This truly boggles my mind. Can you shed any light on this?

Wow, I need to read through this thread...but for the few posts I was able to skim through, my contributions is this... I try to stay in bounds of all laws as long as they do not infringe on my freedom. If they do, I ignore them so as long as my actions do not infringe on the freedoms of others. Whether it is how and when I carry a weapon (.45 SA ultra compact - concealed) or for gay folks out there and their choice on marriage, do what your moral compass tells you is right and does not impact others.

" I will accept any rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. "
― Robert A. Heinlein

Looking forward to reading the rest of this topic!! :)

You had better read the list, 20 some pages of approved handguns. How can you complain about hundreds of choices???

I just went through the list, not sure what is "missing" actually. It isn't exactly what I would call onerous.

That is not the point. There are thousands missing. But that is not the point either. The point is that the list is un American.

How so ??? All of the guns listed would surely fit in the self defense and sportsman category. At least it is fair in it's inclusions. Are we supposed to have "everything" at our whim? Is it our right to own, or chose?

I think the point is the list shouldn't exist in the first place.
