About 15 outside here in NYC. Doing full-time nursing 24 hours at a time right now. Everyday is getting better. Kiss this year goodbye in a few hours. Looking forward to the New Year and whatever is in store.

Hope all are well, where you want to be, and of course...a safe, prosperous and good health in the New Year to you.

Happy New Year TBN friends!
Hang in there, our prayers are with you. Just set your goals one day at a time.
As I've wrote my wife had 2 strokes and the second one almost took her. Now 9 years later she still can't jump tall buildings with a single bound. Nor play the piano. But she never could do either.
And monitor what the physical therapists try to get her to do.
A couple of their goals were to get her to snap her fingers, to show dexterity, and to whistle, to demonstrate recovery of facial muscle control. She tried and tried when I wasn't there. She finally told me what they were trying to get her to do.
Now I had known her for about 35 years and she never could do either, but she was too proud to tell the therapist that she had not been able to those tasks before the strokes and they never asked her :( And she was almost in tears from trying.

But if temps goes down into teens, heat pump will not hold 70.

Sure hope that's not the case with our heat pump since it's supposed to go down to 14 tonight.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!to everyone here on tbn. Hopefully things will be better for all those struggling with problems. Our prayers will continue.
Today was a waste... Got off duty last night after 3- 13 hour shifts that ended up being 15 to 16 hours, not including the 50 minute drive time to and from home. Only got a total of about 10 hours sleep over the past 3 days. Everyone just kept calling 911 for everything. We had 35 units on the street, but would be at "level zero" 3 or 4 times a shift (level zero is when there are no units available and there are calls holding). I was wore out by last night. Had plans to work in the shop today.... That idea was scrapped.

Riptides.. Make sure you continue to act as an advocate for your wife.. It's easy for her to get lost in the system of healthcare today... Hang in there.
Buckeye.. I'm glad your appointment went well...sleep is always your best friend!
Top pop.. You hang in there as well, glad you were able to spend time with family.
Daukin...(I think I spelled that wrong) be strong.. Memories can help you get through..
And to everyone else that needs prayers...We send them out everyday to you guys and gals.

You are going to have to test the teen theory by yourself Bird, it's only suppose to get in the low twenties here.
Keep and eye on your thermostat if is says emergency heat or auxiliary heat then your heat strip has been activated and you are not quite as energy efficient as the heat pump alone.

Hang in there Rip. as Newbury says, our prayers are with you.

My wife - 10 Days ICU, 5 months in Skilled Nursing Facility, and I was blessed to become her full time caregiver when she came home. She could barely make 6 steps with her walker and almost two years of therapy before she could confidently walk short distances with just her cane or crutch. We both remember the OT chastising her for not “walking” to the bathroom until she actually saw how involved and time consuming it was to make that 15 feet.
Some days it seems 1998 was so long ago and I rarely think of her as disabled even though we are both aware of her limitations. I’m sure her OT and all her Physical Therapists considered me a real PITA, but I didn’t care. At the very beginning, her first lucid day in ICU, her surgeon impressed upon us that we were in charge and part of that responsibility was to understand the why of any proposed action, including him. I don’t recall any therapist not being appreciative of extra info.
Looking back, it’s almost hard to remember the struggles compared to the victories.
