No way. Not for me. Not a fan of the old fart states. Unless my health mandates it, you won't find me avoiding snow in Arizona or Florida. Instead, I'll put a hula girl bobble head on the dash of the tractor, crank up the heat in the cab, and The Beach Boys tunes on the in-cab stereo... then go pound some drifts.

This is exactly the discussion the better half and I are having. We don't have the snow but do have a long wet cold gray winter... I'm okay for a few vacations to the south. She wants warm winters... like 3+ months south. I like getting snowed in and even generator power for a couple days. That's all we get, but winter gray and blues are long lasting here... Nov-April.

If you're going to trade up, why not go with the cab tractor now instead of retrofitting a cab to the BX. Get a B-series with cab, loader and rear blade and then WHO CARES how long it takes to clear the drive. You'll be in heated comfort.

NOTHING beats a front mount blower. Possibly even better than a cab, especially if you can choose when to do the clearing. Having said that. It is good to retain mobility and twist your spine.

And yes, a FEL is horrible for clearing snow. Beats the heck out of a walk behind blower or shovel though.

People often seem so obsessed with the appearance of lawn and property but I have never heard anyone complain about the hatchet job, blades and buckets do removing snow! I mean, you have to look at that landscape for much of the year too. What's the difference?

I'm going to have to stand corrected... I looked at tractors with cabs. The cost is far to large for the use. Even a cab on new BX is $5,000, but that has no air. And a "B" is another $5,000 over that. Trading up would cost $10-15k. Not interested in spending that kind of lettuce.

I hear you on the lettuce...

I would still advise you to 'buy once, cry once' and get what you really want. It's cheaper in the long run. Been there, done that, there's no t-shirt to go with it...

Sounds reasonable, and justified, to me. Not the DW. I need to get the heat in my pole barn first. 'Cause after buying a cab, that's where I'll be sleeping.

She'll get over it. They always do. A mattress topper on the work bench will work until then. Enjoy the new cab tractor! :drink:

I just got my $4.00 Stainless Steel Brandy Flask from China via E-Bay. Always wanted one. Good alternative to a cab!

It's -21 C here today, should've bought two!
