red dye in tran oil

read some posts that some owners put some red dye in hydraulic oil so they see it better in sight glass is that a jd product or where does a person pick it up at?

Your JD dealer can get it for you if he doesn't stock it. It's a very small container, but it will do a large tractor so, for you 2520 try putting in only 1/2 or 1/3 initially. Save the rest for the next change.

JD dealer can get;about $5.00.I put some in my Kubota.Problem was I didn't tell my Kubota dealer and they had thought I had put automatic transmission fluid in it!Well worth doing for sure.

My bottle of JD red hydraulic dye was $12 or so off Amazon a couple years ago. Made the sight glass in my old L3200 usable. Made sure to mention it to the buyer when I sold it so they wouldn't wig out about it being ATF.

Less of an issue with the dipstick on my new L4060, but I might grab another bote at some point.

It also makes identifying leaks very easy and only $5.31 per bottle at the Deere dealer.

Oh, I used half a bottle in my L3200 & it was plenty. Went to used the other half a year or 2 later & found it all dried out. Not sure if it just goes bad or I didn't get the cap on tight enough or what.

It would be nicer if it came in blue, so you would not confuse it with leaking red diesel fuel.
