Is your block aluminum or cast??? I have seen some cast block that were welded and or brazed over the years. The trick is you got to be really good with a torch and/or a welder. I have seen guys weld cast with a stick welder and use nickel rod. I've seen guys weld it with a wire welder and use stainless wire. However, these guys were really good at what they did. I had a guy weld some busted cast on the knotters of a baler once and that worked. He was good, been welding 30+ years. I could not have ever done it. You might see if you can get a block from an ag salvage yard, or find the exact same tractor in running order. Then you could use the "broken" tractor for parts. That is a farm trick special in the midwest.

The Ford 1700 was built by Shibaura (Japan) between 1979 and 1982.
It has a 2 cylinder diesel with cast iron block.
The best (most obvious) solution for the OP would be to find a used block.

Is the damage from a thrown rod?
If you have the piece and it is not broken up I would braze the piece back in and hone smooth.
I have brazed a kick peddle housing on a 1950 Harley that was completely broken from a chain break and backlash.
It was still on the bike 8 years later when I sold it!
Plus other successes with brazing.

i think im going to just grind and smooth the broke part. it would cost a lot to have sleeves done, and i checked to see how fare the piston come down at full stroke and its not close to the combustion chamber.
