Oregon Drivers Can Now Learn To Pump Their Own Gas

My 71 torino had 2 arrows pointing in apposite directions and the filler was behind the license plate. Somebody here said the arrows were turn signals, and that could be right, because i think if they pointed to the filler location, they would not have pointed in opposite directions, but rather toward each other....Indicating the central location of the filler.

Too bad the safety issues stopped those fillers from being underneath the license plate, it sure made it handy not having to worry which side you pulled up to the pump on.

On parts of the Florida Turnpike the service plaza gas stations have suspended ( IIRC ) hoses long enough to reach either vehicle side .

Can we PLEASE get back to making fun of Oregon?

Think right side / left side has run its course?

By now those in Oregon affected by the change (it wasn't state-wide) will have figured out how to pump gas. I hope anyway.

But ...... what if they haven’t?

Bring in National Guard to pump for them?

I'll have to ask the chauffeur on which side the gas fill port is located. I don't bother with such mundane things. So long as I have an adequate supply of Grey Poupon, all is well.

One of my favorite funny stories:

My brother got in a wreck on his motorcycle (he was okay for the most part and is quite a jokester anyway). He was riding up to a stop light and apparently didn't notice the truck in front of him hit the brakes at the last minute and came to complete stop. He hit the truck from the rear (I think a Ford Ranger), went up over the handlebars, flipped while going over the bed of the truck and went feet first into the cab of the truck through the back window, narrowly missing drop kicking the driver.

This was in Clemson at the main light, so my guess is he was watching some young college hottie walk down the side walk instead of watching the traffic in front of him.

Anyway, we all rush to the hospital when we get the word. They had his leg in a boot and he did some damage, but nothing permanent. He was on some pain killers already. I asked him, what he did and he told me the story above. Said he was basically almost sitting in the center of the seat next to the driver (single cab by the way). I asked him what the driver did when he came crashing into the cab with him thinking that would freak me out pretty good if it happened to me. He said, "yeah, the guy was in shock and was at a complete loss for words, so I said, pardon me, but do you have any Grey Poupon"?

Needless to say there was some roaring laughter in the hospital that day.

Clemson now has more than light.;) My guess is that the accident occurred at either (a) the intersection of Tiger Boulevard (US 123) and College Avenue (SC 133) or (b) the intersection of the Old Greenville Highway (SC 93) and College Avenue.

My money in on (b), especially if it was a warm spring day and coeds were sunning themselves on Bowman Field.:)
