We had some nice, pleasant, almost warm weather for awhile, but that changed yesterday. The north wind arrived about 11 a.m. (28 mph gusting to 40), about 5:15 p.m. I noticed just a few tiny snowflakes in the air (didn't last long and no measurable precipitation), and this morning it's 20 degrees, but going for a high of 43, clear and sunny in the forecast.

Drew, are you going to sell your TT?

yes. I tried a gas Class A. Too hard to drive(the Ford chassis even with every mod) and now a pull behind, which is too hard for me to hook and unhook. Should have started out with a diesel pusher and might some day but not this year. No time for an rv with my gardening this year.
So...that will clear up a lot of space under roof. Not the best protection due to 12 foot high open sides, but keeps the rain off.

26 and snowing, we had some freezing rain this morning first. A lot of things being cancelled, I’m glad I got some thing done yesterday. I lined up a couple little things for today, inside. Not a bad thing, I need to do a lot of things.

14°F and windy with light snow flurries, going up to 27° today. We dodged most of the really bad stuff last night, and only got a brisk wind as the temperature plummeted. It's definitely cold again today.

The last house I rented before leaving Granite City had a modern natural gas furnace. However, the house was originally built in the 1890s, and had a coal chute built into one side of the house that emptied into a rather large coal "bin" in the basement ... it was more of a large closet-size room really. I cleaned it up when I moved in, screwed the chute door shut, and used the space for storage. Embedded into the concrete floor next to the furnace unit was the mount for a coal buster, which the landlord had removed some years ago, having no idea what it was. He eventually opened a small restaurant just outside of town, and had that coal buster mounted on the wall with a note that anyone who could identify what it was would get 50% off their meal. He told me once that over 99% of his customers had no clue, even the older ones.

Stay warm today, gentlemen.
