Bushog gearbox question

   / Bushog gearbox question #11
I am not doubting the video but if it works better than oil wonder why the manufacturers do not use it? Or do some?

My tiller came from the factory with 00 oil/cornhead grease in the gear boxes.

Thanks, what brand is the tiller? It can be hard to make a change from what has is consider the standard to what is better at times.

Got it several years ago at Tractor Supply, it's a King Kutter gear drive

I use Lubriplate brand, 105 grease in the white tube, blue cap, at most auto parts stores. Thicker than 140 and thinner than #2.

Next is to check that your fill plug is the vent type....little cap on top rather than bare, square plug top showing, and is not plugged if you have it, or get one at AP/farm stores also to allow the pressure off when using. Full plug on the box should be about half way up and full is when lubricant is at this level.

Exceeding 540 rpms can help in being a cause for your problem.
