I talked to a guy from Agco. Explained to him all the issues I've had with the tractor. He's supposed to get back to me or have the dealer. I'm not expecting much but lets wait and see. I'll update.

CaptHowdy -- get the email address and the phone number of your AGCO regional service rep. Use it but don't abuse it.

You have to do what seems best given your experience and what you are able to find out/figure out before you trade or buy. I do not wish to influence that, which is your own process. I had "serious lemon level" problems with my MF 2660 bought new in 2011. My situation was disadvantaged by my being 330 miles from my farm and equipment, no dealer near the farm, the closest one there was going out of business, etc. It took forever to resolve what might have been simple and quick if ....me, the dealer and the machine had all been within 25 miles of each other on a continuous basis.

After all the dust settled and all significant problems were finally fixed, I concluded this: The regional service rep was a very reasonable arbiter and judge of the overall situation. Sometimes he was hard to get hold of, but in the long run fair, showed good judgement and saw to it that things were made right. At the end of the far-too-long-process AGCO stood behind every single aspect of what they sold me, extended my warranty when they did not have to, and caused 3rd party dealers to be fair on charges. I reluctantly had to admit that they stood behind it and made it right.

Unfortunately you cannot go out and buy a farm tractor for $30 to $50,000 these days [from any source] and expect it to be trouble-free without repeated rounds with the dealer & sometimes with the manufacturer -- no where near like buying a car ! There is terrific safety in numbers when buying a car (where a million or so of them were sold and heavily regulated by both market forces and the government) and far different when buying a tractor (where 40 or 50,000 were sold MAYBE and outside these forums very darn little is shared publicly!!!) The farm tractor market is just not QUITE big enough to enjoy mass market benefits, especially in remote rural areas.
Thank gawd I was not having to make a living with that tractor. A good dealer can't be overemphasized & is worth their weight in gold. So is a good regional service rep.

Where you located??? Kind of want to hang on til spring. It has a loader and I got a 5 ft woods blade and 5 ft king kutter brush hog. It is kind of a mechanics special, but if your handy at twisting wrenches, might work out for you. Good rubber on back an put new rubber on the front last summer.

Was your tractor under warranty though?

Yeah. My dad has a 1976 ford 3600. Who knows the hours That's a simple reliable machine but like you said the simple days are gone

Yes the simple days are gone,...but if you have the time, and invest the money, you can bring a "simple reliable machine" back to like new condition.
I have two of them, and would not trade either for any 2018 model.

Yes and no. My tractor was under warranty during the first 2 years of the 3 year shakedown and fix period. Eventually AGCO agreed that the problems should be covered by them and extended the warranty another year. I have not had the catastrophic type problems since the extended warranty period ended.

I would consider this, as long as they extended the warranty for a year at least. I’m not really wanting to go into debt.

So far no word back. I've got a feeling they aren't gonna do anything.

Keep politely after your regional service rep. Make him say Yes or No.

This shouldn't have to be done if they care at all about their customers. Due to circumstances I work 7 days a week at my regular job and have very little time for other things. It sucks, but that's the situation I'm in. I can't be trying to track down a Massey rep, when actually he should be the one doing it. I'm not saying you are wrong, just that's not the way it should have to be. But like I explained above, working all the time I need the tractor to work when I need it to work. I don't have time to mess with the **** thing all the time. Sorry, I'm just frustrated that I spent all this money on a new tractor so this headache wouldn't happen and here I am.
